Is this for real, URE race?

People are asking questions out of concern. There could be 8k pounds of trash and shit left out in a national forest and who do you think is gonna get blamed. I'm sure they will personally call the people responsible and ask them to clean it up. How about if someone gets seriously injured? Must have been their fault. I'm not naysaying that it will happen or not just asking questions. Alot of you guys could give 2 shits about UNF but I don't have a buggy I can go out to tellico with so I'd like to keep my easy lil craphole avail to the public and opened for my jeep. So sorry to ask a question.
I'm with Rich. A lot of these questions make it seem like guys are looking for this to fail. "Have you considered asteroids?" "What if my rig catches fire." "What happens if a 1 year old learns to walk that day and wanders on to the race course?"

The organizer is shooting for the stars and I respect that. A bunch of guys have asked where the rest of the money is going. I hope it goes right into his pocket so he's motivated to throw this event again next year. A bunch of guys have complained about the divisions but only a few have offered potential solutions.

I'd love to see more people suggest solutions for their potential problems instead of just badmouthing and nay saying the event. A few guys are meeting with him in person, that's great, help him out.

Bitching, moaning, and preaching full failure = bad
Finding solutions before there are problems = good

Don't worry, if this does actually go down, I'll be riding shotgun.
I'd pay his entry, but he would have to share any winnings. I know he ain't down with that.
You do realize we could break 5 ft. into the woods right? I hope this works out, I'll try an fire as many "what if's" as I can think of when meeting with the organizer tomorrow.

why not use the classes from Carolina Crawlin?
I'm not familiar with them so I had to look them up. They use the we rock rules and have 9 1/2 pages of vehicle requirements per class. I guess that would work but I'm still partial to the simple rules I posted in the Q&A thread. Having said that, I'm happy with just about any class division they come up with. I think I'll be in the top class using just about any system except tire height and I don't think I'll suffer too much at uwharrie using my current tires.

re: classes.... I really prefer the thinking that 2 lockers = modified (class c). We all know that a locker will get you just as much, if not farther, than bigger tires and any other mod.
Uwharrie is not a place where big tires gives you alot of benefit. We aren't climbing over boulders here. Esp if it rains, it's going to be all about traction.
IMO, stcok = A = no locker, B = 1, C = 2.
But hey... maybe that's b/c I only have 1 and I don't want to compete against you!

I see where youre coming from, but having wheeled with one locker, and with two, its the first one that makes a world of difference as far as i am concerened, adding the second one made a much less drastic change...... for what thats worth

Asking questions is looking for it to fail but suggestions are good? You just said earlier to stfu but then say to make suggestions. Which is it? People can't make suggestions until they know the status. Maybe I was asking about fucking trash b/c I'd help on cleanup. Maybe I'm asking about safety b/c I don't wanna take my kids/wife up there if its not 100% safe. I mean way to get defensive about shit you prob have lil to no involvement with.

What if my rig catches fire.
hat happens if a 1 year old learns to walk that day and wanders on to the race course?"

I think safety questions are pretty valid. Its a public nf. Are there going to be safety inspections on rigs before they run? Safety requirements?

I mean I know its early in the game but you guys are already getting pissy about people asking questions.

FWIW, I wasn't specifically calling you out. To be honest, all the guys without avatars kind of blend together to me.

(Be prepared for personal long winded nonsense)

A few years into my career I used to have the habit of pointing out all the flaws in other people's projects. I wasn't just a natural dick, I actually thought I was giving people the benefit of my experience and "ground level" perspective. After doing this for a while, and feeling pretty smart for being able to spot all these obvious flaws/mistakes, my manager met with me. He explained that coming up with problems isn't the hard part, it's coming up with solutions. He advised me not to point out other people's mistakes unless I had a recommendation to accompany it. He called it being "solution oriented".

Now that many years have past I look back at that piece of advice as one of the better things I've heard. Anybody can critique somebody's work. Anybody can think of things that go wrong, that's easy. If you really want to add value then you have to go the next step and find solutions.

Very well said, it's a valuable tool to use often.

There will be problems, but solutions need to be found. We just have to face the fact that everything can't be protected. There will be provisions put into place I am sure to keep people safe, but sometimes we have to use our heads and try to use our better judgement with things.

Let's try to help this guy out. He works, has a family, and is trying to bring entertainment and publicity to the UNF area. Give him alittle time to answer instead of chopping his nutz off at the beginning of his LONG trial and tribulation.

board is 18+ to my knowledge. Sorry didn't really people could say anything on here but Fawk . It also helps that you copied it and put it in your own post doubling the chance of it being seen (*hands you cookie)

WOW, checked in and almost 5,000 hits on this thread in about 50 hrs since I first put it up. Lot's of interest, someone needs to tell Bruton Smith about this, he could build a truck course behind the dirt track and cabarrus county could pay for it like the dragstrip!

On a side note about this thing, who had the races around '79 - 80 near URE off 49? Could be held at the same place, it had 2 courses that overlapped and ran 2 trucks at a time. Could put rocks in on that, it also had a swamp that trucks tried to make it across after the races. Anybody on here remember that? I remmber Gary Porter showning up there with the old Carolina Crusher (the gray one before it went to 66's). I'll see if I can find some pics.
