KOH LIVE

Video link?

no vid that i know of but he got stuck going down the waterfall at wrecking ball. he had to winch, broke the winch and became a trail tampoon. There is a bypass and most took it around him but he was stuck till one of his team mates pulled him off whatever he was stuck on.

A lot of the top, professionally built 4400 cars are likely $100k-$150k. (Look at Loren Healy's car, Clay Gilstrap's car, Shannon, etc)I'm sure there are others out there that cost much less as well.

I would imagine many of the top EMC cars being half that.

I figured it would be more than that, especially Shannon's rig and the IFS types. But I know sponsorships cover a lot of those coast. Like John Currie just saying hey Gerald Lee grab some axles out of the warehouse, lol.

When I was at the hammers in 2010 & 2011 I talked to a lot teams and if I remember correctly they said to be competitive you are looking at an all in cost of around $300k +. I'm sure there are alot of teams racing with a much smaller budget than that as I was talking to some of the top teams at the time. I really would like to see a low budget team win it all this year.

Like @REDLYNER starting 65th but Jay can get it done in that new car. :driver:

Ran into John Currie on hwy 20 a few weeks before KOH last year when they were pre running in the new big boy 4400 they built. I'm pretty sure they have over $200k in parts alone in that ride. It was sick as fuck

Numbers I've seen are pushing $250k for building a new competitive 4400 car. I love the idea about the legends class. Using old 4400 cars that can't keep up. I see 4 wheel indep susp and more on the horizon. Like a class 1 desert racer with beefier parts.

That's what I think would be really fun to build. Something super light weight so the stresses are low, and full independent drivetrain. And mid engine for low polar moment and good cockpit visibility. And dry sumped for low CG. And a turbo, because everything needs a turbo.

Now where's that pile of money I'm hiding under the mattress?

I like the way you think, especially on the turboz. :burnout:

It could very well be more $$$ for a select few trying new and innovative parts.

I would like to see the total bill for replicating Cody Wagonner's new racer. That thing has so many trick little details in it and custom machined everything. The hardlined plumbing everywhere with bulkhead fittings at each firewall is just a small example of the detail that went into the buggy.
