KOH LIVE

Which is why there were 70 DNFs.

I get the point you're trying to make, but it doesn't seem consistent with the realities of KOH. You need a car that performs well enough in the desert, but nobody is taking the podium based on their top speed out on the flats. They're more likely to yard sale their shit across the desert.

Oh I agree there 100%.
That's why we have seen F-Toys finish Top 12 as recently as 2? years ago.

The point Im trying to make is this (and you know this) you can build an F-Toy that will consistently finish KOH, probably even Top 20 for ...maybe $35k. You will never win in that rig. Never. Someone with a desert car will get lucky and hold together and catch a few breaks and beat you buy an hour or more. Its another $60k on top of that $30k to have any shot of winning in a given year. And that is assuming a lot of personal built in advantages.

Randy's car is now for sale. $125k and it won last year and 8th? This year. It's a steal! lol
Well shit, that's hardly even much more than that fancy new truck you just bought.

Per the driver's meeting- Ultra4 will be a little different down the road. Tire brand has zero to do with how each car placed- zero. More on that to come.

While it is a crap shoot, I believe that seat time, testing/tuning, and comfort in the rig play as big a part as most other things.
this.
IMO at the end of the day, it's about seat time. The experience of knowing how your car will behave, when to push it, when not to, knowing exactly where the limit is and being to run right against it.
This is of course somewhat intertwined with the money - the guys with the experience are the ones that are out racing all the time, and dedicating their lives to it. It takes dollars to do that. Not that I have any spite for them, many of these guys worked very hard to get to that place, taking risks instead of a steady paycheck.
But the point is, you can't buy that kind of experience, and at the end of the day it's very rare that you're you're going to see an occasional weekend warrior in a top spot against a group of guys like that no matter how much you spend on the car.
(you also gotta spend it on the team that supports it too)

That combination plus a mountain of pre running is a pretty good recipe for success.

One of the class winning teams did 900 miles of course pre-running in the last two months. They guessed on the map and were within a couple of trails in accuracy.

A big challenge for me is the support team. I had 5 or 6 fantastic guys who sacrificed a ton to support me out there. But I need about 9 or 10 to truly man the pits. The pit support for the Campbell's, Miller, and other perennial winners is Nascar'esque. Unbelievable to see in person. Humbling.

bla blah. Bla blah bla blah bla blah blah . Bro Lite is awesome.

I agree with that completely. The benefit they have too, is guys who helped build the car and likely have a focus. He knows all the ins/outs of the system he works on (fuel, front axle, rear axle, engine, etc.) and doesn't have to troubleshoot much. This saves a ton of time.

Also, on pre-running. I think it is safe to say that time would be best suited to pre-run the rock sections. Know multiple lines up and down each of the main rock sections. While this might not eliminate a trail-plug, you can possibly buzz around it. Watching the footage this year, you could tell the guys that knew the alternate line around a plug. It's almost gaurenteed that you will run CT, Wrecking Ball, JackHammer, Backdoor in some capacity. Also, understanding how fast you can get through those sections, and when it might be beneficial (if any) to take a penalty and avoid a section.

Never beneficial. Rules say so, you may finish, but you'll get DQ'd or take a time penalty that might as well make it a DQ. That was discussed in depth a few years ago.

I recall that a few years ago... Was pretty certain that it was still the case. Im mainly saying that fully understanding the course/area and the rules greatly increase the chance for winning.

I've bedded 10,000 goats in my mind as well, that doesn't make me a porn star either......
Just someone with a animal fetish.

lmao, I kill me....[emoji23]
