Siteone has the seed and fert. If you're renting a hydroseeder, Sunbelt probably has the hydromulch. if not Siteone probably will. And IF you use the hydroseeder let the seed soak in the water for a good while before you apply it. It will swell the seed and get it ready to germinate quicker. How much acreage are you seeding?Started looking into that when a buddy told me about seeing a sunbelt rental hooked behind a pickup. Haven't called yet, but saw the daily/weekly rental fee online. I need to call and see if they sell the materials too or if I get that on my own elsewhere (and where to get it)
But that DOES seem to be the best route

Roughly 3/4 acre but ALL subsoil. No topsoil at ALL, and 80% on slopes that would require matting apparentlyHow much acreage are you seeding?
You're overthinking this! ;~) The amount of soil on a sod roll isn't going to amount to anything, and its sand at best usually. For 3/4 of an acre you can get a landscaper to do it because you'll spend forever doing it yourself. Sides just didnt want to do it. They are set up for BIG jobs. You may need some Excelsior matting for some slopes and the rest can be seeded regularly. Do not worry about topsoil, most all jobs are seeded on whats there. Trucked in topsoil sucks anyway.Roughly 3/4 acre but ALL subsoil. No topsoil at ALL, and 80% on slopes that would require matting apparently
Honestly thinking of sodding the slopes and roadside. It comes with topsoil, and won't wash. By the time I buy topsoil, seed, straw, and fertilizer......
Hey guys, I finally sent off 3 soil samples to see what I need to do to have a better looking lawn next year - Front yard/back yard/garden. The yard is ~.45 acres or close to 20,000 sq ft.
PH was in the "acceptable" limits - 5.8-6.5 for both yard samples, it was high for the garden at 7.5 (6.2-6.7 optimal). Phosphorus and potassium were high in all locations.
The recommedation everywhere is no lime and 5 lbs of 21-0-0 fertilizer which looks like ammonium sulfate after a tiny bit of research online. My yard is fescue and I have read through this thread and will re-read some of the advice of timing for aerating and fertilizing. Any advice yall can offer would be awesome, there is a siteone that's close to my work so I can pick up the fertilizer and stuff from there since they were recommended throughout this thread.
For the lawn with the high P and K you are on the right track with the 21-0-0 but just ask Siteone what they have that's comparible. And stay away from Starter fert for a while. High P locks up your soil, maybe Guffey can offer more on that. For the garden you could add some fine pine bark soil amendment to lower the pH a bit.Hey guys, I finally sent off 3 soil samples to see what I need to do to have a better looking lawn next year - Front yard/back yard/garden. You have to be very careful with ammonium sulfate on new seed, I don’t recommend it until the grass is maturedFor the lawn with the high P and K you are on the right track with the 21-0-0 but just ask Siteone what they have that's comparible. Thats exactly what I was talking about! Home Depot stopped carrying it but I have seen it at Lowes.View attachment 276539

I am a big fan of Humic Acids, fulvic acids and kelp products for new seeds where P and K are excessive. Humic Acids will release bound up nutrients in the soil and make them readily available to the plant
As far as the garden goes, till in some of what I have pictured, it’s great stuff for reducing ph and adding some organic matter

I hope your putting pumpkins on all those straw bales and not using it on your lawn
How in the hell did you make 15 bales go that far with that good a coverage
Now just lay the water to it! Looks good!I don't know, but they were very big bails bound up super tight. Webster Bros seems to have good stuff.
