Let's see this years bucks

The heat is on round here. A coworker had a huge 9 he's let grow for 3 years run right past his stand 3 times following a doe yesterday. He tried to stop it every time and louder each time, but It never even slowed down.

Watched this guy walk through the woods for a good 80yds or more. Slow movin but his nose practically never left the ground.

I was coming home from mt gilead after seeing nothing. And hit a doe at 55mph outside of albemarle. She was tough hit the road running couldn't find her but tore my new ram up.

Ducked out of work a little early today and sneaked into the woods. Wasn't there 30 minutes and heard a buck grunting. He chased a doe into the horse pasture behind me so I couldn't get a shot at her. Then he stepped out at 10 yards to my 8 o'clock staring right at me so I had to freeze. Biggest buck I've ever seen in person...only pictures of him last year & none on the cameras this year. Heart pounding in my chest he ducked back into the cover. 15 minutes later a doe entered my food plot, but I didn't take a shot hoping the bruiser would reappear. Knowing my mind may be seeing things, it might have been the 8 point roaming around. Hopefully either one shows up tomorrow!

I had a crazy morning! Didn't see anything until 9am then the flood gates opened. Saw over 20 deer including 3 nice 8's all inside 20yds. Had to sit completely motionless for nearly an HR straight as many walked very close. I don't think you've lived now until you've had a large buck ROAR less 10yds behind you. I nearly jumped out of my damn stand! In 23yrs of hunting deer I have NEVER heard that, crazy! This guy was about 10yds off the bottom of my stand in this pic. Didn't shoot anything, just enjoyed the show.

Are you sure it wasn't Bigfoot roaring, lol?

I went the last two days . No deer but I have a coyote problem big time 6 followed me out of the stand all the way to the jeep.

The guy I hunt with in Cabarrus County & I mounted an all out assault on the coyotes on that property. Killed 6 in a couple months and I think the others took the hint and moved on...haven't seen tracks or heard them at all. That's the only reason the land owner will let us shoot does this year. I need to do the same thing this spring on my family's land in Stanly County since I don't have any more pictures of fawns since August/September, and now I'm getting coyotes on cameras. If you want/need help, I'm always down for putting some coyotes down for a dirt nap!

I get the privaledge of going with my dad each year to 200 acres of trophy land in Kentucky (fighter pilot friend of the family's land). I missed this year due to my wife's girls weekend....

Yesterday was opening day and they had a record harvest... Two 10's, a 9 and big 8. That's a lot of horns for 200 acres. Here's a shot of the 9-

Saturday morning was a great morning. I swear there were 40-50 shots across the county that I heard just between 6 and 7am. Crazy... This joker came in on a string to the grunt looking for a fight. Smokepole with a 250gr. Barnes took him down @ 15yds.

Yes! They sure are some wicked bullets! Ive taken 2 deer with the Spitfire T-EZ and taken 2 with the Expander MZ's. Love the way they both perform.

been slow up here. haven't been hearing a lot of shooting. not been seeing a lot of deer. seen a few small 8's and a broke rack 8. hopefully pick up some this week. some nice one's have hit the ground up her though. good luck to everyone.

Same here in Montgomery county too many damn coyotes I got my bear tag today since we had a 500 lb black destroy a feeder black or brown it's down. And no I'm not being racist for once hahaha.

Man had a big buck come in at 6 pm. to dark to shoot but he knew I was there too blew at me 6or 7 times. I'll bust his ass before season ends. Called him in on my primos grunt call.

A friend was hunting deer w a pistol and let a 3-4 hundred lb. bear pass @ 20 yrds in Franklin co. 2 days ago, he did'nt shoot it cause he did'nt have a permit, he has one now

Despite my better judgement, I went tonight with all the wind & ended up seeing 6 deer. A spike & cow-horn were practically following each other and then 15 minutes later a nice 6-point showed up. Decided to drop the hammer since I'm not on the board yet and found out I had a defective primer. By the time I got another round chambered, he was in some thick brush. Then after shooting light was over I was packing up & 3 does entered my food plot. Sat there until they left...guess I'm not holding my tongue right!

Better check your gun, stuck/dirty/rusty firing pins and soft, wore out springs are more common than a bad primer.

That has to be a rush! Guy that used to live behind me had a bad shoulder so he crossbow hunted from the ground in a ghillie suit sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. I bloodtrailed a few for him b/c he couldn't see very well and they all had good shot placement. He said the biggest rush was when they walked up and sniffed you lol.

The primer had a dent, so I know it was struck; but I agree that it could be a worn out spring or a sticking firing pin (hopefully not since the rifle is less than 2 years old & I keep it clean). The plan is to shoot it tomorrow after work to find out what was wrong.

EDIT/UPDATE: After work & before heading to the hunting property, I inspected the bolt & firing pin/spring...everything was working perfectly. Test fired it 3-4 times and no mishaps. Tried firing the suspect round again and nothing. The primer is definitely bad, so I disassembled the round. Kept the powder & brass to reload, not sure what I'm going to do with the projectile just yet. First time a factory hunting load has let me down, just wish it wasn't on what would've been my first deer for the year & 2nd buck ever!

I know this is not a buck, but I have to show this picture because this is the biggest doe I have ever seen in my life. She is bigger than any buck I have ever shot. I don't have a weight because I don't have a scale. I made my buddy lay down next to the deer to give it perspective, he is 5'9" and 165 pounds.
