Let's see this years bucks

Big old does are harder to hunt/kill than most bucks, those old does never loose their minds like bucks do when they're rutting and are wiser and more wary the older they get.
This is the truth if a olde granny hill doe blows on you the best thing to do is make it a jerky doe, because they will make you out just about every time. If I hear the blow they feel 139 grains of 7mm

I had a doe come blasting through a thicket about 7:30 this morning, started hearing some soft grunting coming behind her. I raised my rifle to a small clearing and here comes a button buck! Lil shit got my hopes up:rolleyes:

I heard one blow for 20 mins. one time. I also spooked an old doe just after leaving my truck in the wide open hardwoods one afternoon and watched her run off 200 yrds down a hill, she looked right at me walking, blew and raced off. I sat on the ground and pulled out my fawn bleat. After calling a few times she came right back up the hill, looked at me, blew and ran off again. This happened 2 more times as I used the call again. If you're hunting a permanent stand and old doe sees you she will look at that stand every time she gets near it and warn the rest of the deer until you shoot her.

Yeah, I am thinking this is going to be some tough meat, luckily we also got a younger doe (we are meat hunting obviously) so hopefully the two will even out in the grinder haha.

You might be surprised, If she has a lot of fat I bet the meat will be tender. I always age my venison 5-7 days to tenderize it and make it taste better, even better about 2 weeks in the hide in a walk in cooler. Some of the best tasting/tender meat I ever had was a big 4yo buck I aged in the hide in the backyard hung by the horns for 5 days in the shade when the daytime temps were 40s.I wrapped a sheet around it to keep flys off it and that buck was all swole up w the rut. Some old guys told me that old buck won't be good to eat but they were wrong.

Trying to get this guy in the daylight, down towards Raleigh for him, hunting is slow up the mountain, but I did some culling on a little buck with NO browtines during bow season

Been hunting off and on for 15 yrs and finally got my first deer (probably 7 seasons). He's a nice 6 pointer and weighed approx. 170 lbs. Shot him with a Marlin 30-30 and he fell in his tracks. Hallelujah!

Pics soon

A guy I used to work with lives/hunts near URE...he shot a buck over the weekend and said his glands were still swollen.

Saw 8 on Saturday...1 doe in the morning that busted me, a half rack 4 point that I held the cross hairs on for 10 minutes before I decided to pass. Then to add insult to injury I saw 6 as I was walking out well past shooting light...2 of the 6 looked big.

Missed out on a sweet one this morning. I was hunting our families farm in McBee, Sc. My uncle asked me not to scare his ducks off the pond because he was bringing some business associates down for a hunt the next morning. At 8:15 a monster comes blowing by me and leaps in the pond and swims across. I was standing there with a crossbow, which might as well have been a slingshot.
