Let's see this years bucks

Nope, instead of the blood trail producing more blood it started getting smaller, drops here and there and then the blood just FREAKING STOPPED, had two beagles on the trail and they stopped when the blood stopped

We combed the entire area looking for hair, more blood, or white bellys

Hopefully it was a flesh wound and he didn't bleed internally

He was living there, so we are going to check cameras for the next couple days and see what happens

Damn. I've been there myself. Had one jump in the river on me last year and disappeared. Never seen one do that before. Especially with how high the water was up and moving. Hopefully he's still hanging around for you.

The EXACT same thing happened to me yesterday too. About 10yds past a giant puddle of blood, the trail disappears. Went back this morning to track it again with no luck.

I don't have this problem anytime I'm hunting in the woods I shoot nosler partitions .270 300 or 7mag never had a deer do anything but fall over dead. I will shoot sierra match kings if I'm hunting bean fields where shots over 400 yards present themselves.

The doe I shot Friday morning didn't leave a drop of blood until she fell over about 60 yards from where I shot her; she was hit through both lungs & I missed the heart by 3". I saw which way she was running, but couldn't find any trace until I saw her head & ears through the brush....strangest thing I've ever seen. Shot with a .270 Winchester Deer Season XP that usually leaves a nice blood trail. I think I may take a page out of my brother's book and aim for the neck to drop them in their tracks.

Neck or headshot if your unsure on placement. Aim small miss small.

I've helped more than a few peeps try to find deer they shot w .270s under 100 yrds and we never found some of them. We did find a couple that the bullet failed to expand and the exit was the same as the entrance w not much damage inside the deers lungs at at all, just a hole poked through them and no blood at all on the ground anywhere but where they fell. Another left a big chunk of bone, some meat and blood splatter, but the trail went clean after 150 yrds.

^thats what scares me about "fast" bullet speeds and non ballistic tip bullets. My buddy lost several in a row using 270 and a 243 with just standard hallow points

Thanks for the offer, I am back up the mountain now, my brother will be hunting a little here and there and checking the cameras, we also told a couple of the farmers around to be on the lookout for buzzards

I honestly believe he is still alive, hopefully he shows back up on camera

Shot a doe today had six coming straight to the corn when a squirrel spooked them big eight was right behind them he ran off 80 yards and went the other way. Oh yea I was bow hunting or he would of been mine.

Saw this on the YouTube and figured I'd try it. $1.50 deer feeder.

Step 1: screw peanut butter lid into tree.
Step 2: cut bottom off of peanut butter jar.
Step 3: screw jar onto lid.

It was pretty extensive and labor intense.

This is exactly what happened to me. I've already swapped ammo, but all the family freezers are full so I may not get back in the woods this year to see how it does.

Found a rub near my stand and hung a game camera. The time is off but I got a few pics of a nice buck and a few does. Hoping the buck makes it and is still around next year!
