Lots of interesting news today

We've got 5 of those stupid MF in Winston now 🙄
I grew up in this area and passed under this area a lot over the years.....I thought it was a glorious eye sore and waste of money when they put it up. Look like some genetics nerd implanted some bullshit and called it an improvement.
A major Fire Department can throw stones at that location.........wonder if they made it first, lol! I sure know they could have used the money more wisely. That station is old.

Nah. For all their shortcomings, NCDA/USDA/FDA are pretty serious about pests.
So if I distribute food out of my shop, will they come find and kill all the mice?

I feel like this would be the case at any food distribution facility.
I lived next to the Winn Dixie parking lot in Rufton at 1 time. Big warf rats would feast at our bird feeder. Later I lived next to the coke a cola place in Greensboro. 1 of their buildings was about 30 feet from the back door. A constant struggle with rodents the whole time. I tend to agree with you.

I generally trust pubs in PNAS, a pretty difficult place to get science in.

But ads like this do not help the credibily of that link lol

Kinda like the ads in popular mechanics back in the day for hyper mileage hydrogen generators?

I'm all for cutting out corn based ethanol, but I buy a decent amount of corn so I'm always rooting for $4 corn. With the expected price of corn this next season, it's going to make even less sense, regardless of carbon costs.

"He said fortunately, nobody was hurt and the arches are still under warranty."

How long is the warranty on something like that?

Our warranty (misc. steel fabricator) is one year from date of substantial completion on all items.

Every time I drive under one of them, I wonder what they are there for. If it's just "for looks", then they missed the mark. I don't understand why those type of city projects don't follow the "Disney Rule" where just about everything has to have at least two purposes. Very few things at a Disney park are there purely for looks. For example, flag poles up and down main street also act as lightning rods. Those huge monstrosities over highways should at least also act as a cell tower, or traffic camera perch or something else. Or maybe they are the X that marks the spot for the Space Pirate's loot.

I would assume that they would be required to have SOME function over form if they were totally publicly funded. But apparently they were MOSTLY funded by donations to some artsy fartsy revitalization group. I wanted to get all assy and lead a picket line down main street all "not with my tax money, I don't need your roads" style, but ran across the funding and how they changed the law to prevent this from happening in the future, and moved on to "the cost of tire shine is TOO DAMN HIGH" campaigns

I suppose if they could find humans that would actually work they would be quite content paying humans instead of managing robots.

I haven't read the article so this may be off topic and stems from my general frustration with current entitlement mentality of our young work force
