You know, this is a conflicting situation for me. I believe that we as people should support Israel. But we as a country should not send any other country a dime if we have so much as a penny's worth of national debt.


I'm also fairly isolationist in my belief that we shouldn't be the world police. We should not have substantial boots on the ground (not talking about embassies or small cooperative bases with allies) anywhere unless we are directly attacked. And if we have to mobilize, we should essentially erase the offending group from the face of the earth as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The problem with that is the civilians (politicians) intertwined with the actual military arm will not let it happen b/c they are too busy making sure they don’t piss off the people who will keep them in their office for the next too many yrs that they shouldn’t be there and making decisions they shouldn’t be making.

See also: Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, border security, the “war” on drugs.

Literally watched it happen in Iraq and AFG where we got to a point of ask permission and shoot later b/c we didn’t want to offend people while my soldiers were dying. And my request for air coverage was denied because they didn’t want to spend the money on fuel while we were out escorting US AID civi’s in a country that didn’t need or want their opinion regardless.

Fuck em all and bring our forces back to our own borders to keep US safe.

If you want to venture out on some grand humanitarian cause or mission for your church, great. You go alone knowing the risks it brings along with it.

The other problem with erasing the offending group from the face of the earth is that it is genocide. The world got together awhile ago and promised to not do that kind of stuff.

But yeah, salt the earth strategy worked forthe Romans in Carthage, Clauswitz, and General Sherman.
