You think those are quiet, try a brushless DC fan sometime. The only noise is the hiss from the blade drag. 'Spensive though, but supposedly last a really long time. I dont think we'll ever run ours enough to get any appreciable energy savings either.

You're wrong.
Go look it up YOURself...

Mine is bigger

Go Big Ass or go home (ISIS for the win)

Oh shit...NOW I'm on a list for sure!

You know why they give away so much free shit? Because they charge $800 for a little bitty fan with a sticker of a donkey on it.

I dont think we'll ever run ours enough to get any appreciable energy savings either.

Ours run 24/7/365.

Our family business receives purchase orders for fire retardant lumber from one of the 2 companies listed...that one gets my vote.

I vote for the one that puts $$$ in our pockets:D

Ours run 24/7/365.

If we did that with our DC fans, they would probably pay for themselves in a few years from the electricity savings. Well, if the efficiency is actually as high as claimed. Hmm. Maybe I should buy more super expensive DC fans...

Home Depot has almost 3x larger Market Cap than Lowes and is international.

We needed to replace carpet upstairs in two bedrooms and a hallway.

We got a quote from Lowes and one from HD $38 a piece, person comes out and measures, a few days later they call you with a quote.

Lowes called back a week and a half later, $1900. HD called back 2 days later $1200. The experience only got better from there, all automated voicemails letting me verify the quote, schedule, and when they were showing up. All of which went off without a hitch.

Overall I'll be spending more time in HD for all my larger purchases and would happy to have contracted work done again by them.

So I went to get my 3/8×2.5 lag bolts this afternoon. Went to Lowes first, because I had some stuff to return. They did have the lag bolts, same price as HD, so I went ahead and bought them there. Then I went to the place on the map where the 4x8 sheets of melamine board were supposed to be. 22 in Stock, should be easy to find, right? Except they were just like the store associates, nowhere to be found. So after checking the shelving aisle and the plywood aisle to no avail, I flag down a Lowes employee. He seems a little bothered that I distracted him from looking busy, but is helpful enough. I tell him what I'm looking for, and I swear on my life he says "That's on aisle 17. Didn't I see you looking around over there a minute ago?" Uhhh, yeah, but I'm too dumb to see the 4ft by 8ft sheet of white plywood so can you show me? So we walk by "where it used to be" and on down to where the 1ft wide shelving boards are. During this time, I tell him I need it to be at least 4ft by 4ft, so he goes up to the selection of 2ft by 4ft and says "Will this work?" I smile and say no, he tells me they must not have it, I thank him for his trouble and tell him I'm heading over to the "other store". He then says " yeah, if you can find anyone to help you there"...as I walk out the door. To be fair, the service at HD was only marginally better today. Had to track down an associate, but once i found one, they were helpful. The "saw guy" was also the "forklift guy" and was loading up a customer, but once he finished that, he hurried right over and cut the melamine no questions asked.

At least here in Durm, both stores suck equally and I have to visit one or both on a daily basis. I feel bad for the average joe because customer service at either one sucks. At Lowes, at least once a week I get asked where stuff is or how I would fix stuff...by the employees trying to help a customer.

That said, after working for the Boone store for 2+ years, the vast majority of customers just do not know what they are looking for. No matter how knowledgeable you are, that crap wears on you after a while because you have to spitball at what the customer even needs. And it doesn't help the situation when you just hire bodies to wear vests, act as a customer service associate and stock shelves. They don't pay enough to retain true professionals and they have marginal at best training for the person they hire off the street.

Hardware at either one is a damn joke and for any specialty or bulk stuff I drive the extra 5 min to Fastenal. Sheet goods that I know I will need ahead of time, I buy from one of my suppliers like Rugby. Lowes and HD just get used when I need it sooner than a bulk distributor can get it to me or if I don't have enough to warrant a delivery.

We only have a lowes in town and a couple of maw and paw places. So if you need something after 5 or on the weekends you gotta go to lowes.Regardless of how much they suck you gotta go to em at some point.

I have a Lowe's one exit up from my house. They have way better lumber then the local yards that my work uses. I have noticed that HD has more "crafty", home stuff. Like blinds lights sinks vanitys stuff like that. But I still check Lowe's to see if they have something I want before I drive thirty minutes to HD

I'm ten minutes from Lowe's, 45 from home depot. 'nuf said. However I will absolutely will not set foot in Walmart. If they are the only place that has something i will find it elsewhere or I don't need it.

I drive by HD to get to Lowe's. Guess I'm in the minority.
You're not the only one.

I prefer Lowes because of them carrying Kobalt tools over the shitty husky stuff.

Plus the company I work for sells our product to Lowes so I much rate support the one who supports us.

It's funny cause me and my business partner were talking about this a little bit ago (while walking around a Lowes looking for help). When I go to HD everybody there is anxiously waiting to help me, when at lowes I feel that I am interrupting 2 associates conversations to get help. We spend ALOT of money at HD and the investor that we are working with on a current project prefers lowes so that's what we are using this week and I hate it. We spent $3500 tonight and will spend another $5000 by the end of the week and I felt like I was an inconvenience just to get help with some flooring tile.

I absolutely love the pro desk at HD, I can give them a shopping list in the morning and come back to get the pulled list by then end of the day. I reckon it doesn't hurt we spend a small fortune every month at HD

Prefer local lumber / hardware stores but if needed hit Lowe's first then HD as a last resort. Thinking of dropping Lowe's all together because I despise Jimmy Johnson that much.

The only power tools I use are DeWalt and Milwaukee.

When I used them everyday that's what I had. Now I use mostly Hitachi stuff. I think it's pretty high quality vs price. But I still but Milwaukee or DeWalt If they are priced the Same as Hitachi

I have met him but do not know him. I do not follow NASCAR anymore and I would say he is one of the reasons other than mostly the lack of time. To me he's like the Dallas Cowboys, I'll pull for anyone they are playing and the same for anyone racing against him as long as they aren't driving a Toyota. Just seemed like almost every time I turned a race on over the last 10 years he was in the lead. I was a #3 fan all the way.

I'll go against the consensus here. I prefer Lowes over HD just about every time. IMO, HD caters to the Pinterest projects. Last time i set foot in a HD was 3+yrs so it might have changed. If I'm needing nuts/bolts I head to Ace, much better selection and I can buy the exact number I need.

Bingo. I go to HD when I am already nearby and need something home improvement related, otherwise my conscious trips are to Lowes for home crap and ACE or my other local hardware store for actual hardware. Lowes and HD both suck a fat one for hardware, period.

Lowes for the simple fact that HD quit giving military discounts.
Not true. HD policy is to give 10% discount to all active and reserve, and disabled vets, and on holidays any vet regardless of retirement etc.
I know for a fact our local store does.
HD plumbing department is a cluster F compared to Lowes .
Ours is the opposite. I can find anything plumbing at HD but not Lowes.

Ditto here. The people at our local I've noticed most of the employees have been there for several years too, and they are pleasant and helpful. Always asked if I need help, and they walk me to the place unless they are clearly in the middle of something and I stopped them. Actually a guy told me once their policy was that they were in fact supposed to walk you to find what you need and NOT just point you away.

There was a time when I was in there multiple times a week for probably 6 months straight, many employees got to recognizing me. In fact when Delaney was an infant we had a lot of issues w/ her growth and needing special formula, one of the employees talked to us a lot and somehow the issue of her growth issues came up. Turns out her son had had a similar issue. Next week I was in there she handed me a bag full of a special formula cans she had leftover and had brought in and set aside just for us. We're talking probably $50 worth. After 5 years she's still there and we chat whenever I'm there.
That may have nothing to do with the company per se but it means something.

When I was growing up Lowes was the local hardware store that all the guys went to and knew everybody, they were technically savvy and helpful, you could get everything for a project done there, all the cutting etc. Maybe something has just changed about their corporate culture, I dunno. The one here (different store ,different state, 25 years...) the guys act like you're peanuts to them.
Meanwhile I go to HD and get a 4x8 sheet of plywood and have it cut into like 16 different size pieces and the guy is happy to help, and specifically writes on a piece of paper "no charge for extra cuts."

I really wish HD had a 5% off store credit card like Lowes.

We have a ProExtra account and our purchased go towards discounts...I THINK up to 20% on purchases. And it makes it easy to track purchases.

And I also love HD because they carry Milwaukee power tools
