Lucille's Rebuild

Seat frames are tacked into place, just need to make the mounting tabs and finalize the location. The seats are pretty close now.

No, ratchet strap for now. I may end up trying to make my own brackets later on. Swag stuff is nice but I'd rather spend that money on other parts of the build.

Finally got the rear shocks in and the cage is 95% done. I learned a hard lesson and burnt the shaft on one of my coilovers with welding slag so I had to rebuild a brand new shock before using it. Its now a roller and I can focus on the interior work.

Here it is as a roller at full bump.

Back to pics. Fuel cell tray and mounting straps are done and tray is tacked in. Im waiting on 1 more AN fitting and I'll have everything I need to plumb the tank.

Also started framing up the dash and center console. I had wanted the shifters side by side as in the first pic but couldnt make the shift cables work out so had to move them to an inline configuration.

Also converted the transfer case over to a Novak cable shifter. You can see the xfer case end beside the driveshaft.

Most of the fuel system parts are here. I ended up adding a 90 degree hose end to the collection after the fact. Should have the fuel system plumbed and wired this weekend. I'll be using dual in-tank Walbro pickups, a new inline Walbro pump and a filter/regulator combo for a 99 or so Corvette with a built in return line. I have part numbers for everything if anyone is interested.

Floor and most of the dash and console panels are mocked up in a top secret material made of space-age polymers (AKA cardboard).

Starting working on the dash yesterday and got the most difficult piece out of the way first. I'll make a cover for the gauges out of plexiglass.

The gas tank is plumbed and the engine fired up on the first crank. This is a big improvement over my old stock pump that I'd had several issues with, included not holding pressure so I had to prime the pump 2 or 3 times before every start. One problem I have is the outlet of the filter/regulator is not sealing. It doesnt leak when sitting still but if you move it around, it leaks around the quick connect. I dont know if there should be a plastic clip in the connection like the factory connections have or not. A call to Speedway today should help solve it.
