We got out of Charleston on Tuesday night before the big evacuation on Wednesday. Laying low in Marion til the damage is done. @ramjo offered campsite #1 at his house but he wanted to price gouge me on it....ended up staying at our parents house instead :D

Standard hurricane rate..... plus fuel charge. I got about eleventy hundred more stumps to dig up and need to fill up the equipment again

WTF! What happened to it going east?? I just saw a simulation of the next 40 hrs and it showed the eye coming about or onshore near the Fl/Ga. line and grinding up the coast like a buzz saw to at least N.C................. Very bad news

I heard earlier it would be around for about 60 hours.

Yup, then it's going to do a loop-de-loop, run back around for a second pass at the Bahamas, nail South Floriduh, get out into the Gulf, reorganize, then go fuck New Orleans. Or maybe Houston.

You heard it here first.

I put predicting hurricanes in the same category as predicting the behavior of a woman in menopause.

Don't say that again or there will be a whole nother rush on gas in case the oil refineries are shut down

I'm not sure I'm buying the official NHC track forecast (10PM Thursday), going south of east from Charleston, when 2 of the major models are tracking all the way up the NC coast to Cape Hatteras, and two others are running along I-95 corridor thru the state.

I agree they are similar, they both are potentially deadly if you don't heed the warnings, completely UN predictable, loud, dramatic, destructive, toss things around and break them. It's also a good idea to evacuate until the "storm" has passed, sometimes it's the best defense ;)

This thing fawkin SUCKED. I lost at least one tree in the immediate back yard, no clue what lurks further back in the woods. Basement flooded and the water still won't stop coming in, and power was intermittent throughout the day. Could have been A LOT worse though, looks like the coast got hammered.

At least the snakes in your basement will be gone

It started picking up here at about 11:30pm and it's supposed to be on its way out by 3am or so. Hopefully nothing gets blown over, but it sounds pretty breezy outside. We still have power, for now....I'm just really hoping none of the trees in my yard fall on my house. We had a week and a half of rain BEFORE all this shit got here and are projected to get 10 to 15 inches more.

Just passed a convoy of bucket trucks in greensboro headed east on 40.
