Matthew

and the beat goes on...
day 4 of before sunup to past sun down.
Wayne county is a mess. Nuese has split us in two. So many washouts that the state hasn't put up enough barriers to keep dumbasses from running off in them. Not the state's fault.Hell, they drive around them just to drive in and drown.
What i am doing,we get a lead on an area that doesn't have water. We arrive on one side of the washout. Dig down on the water main a good distance away from breakage yet past last house affected on that side. Cut main and cut in a plug. Install a blow off tap and then get water back to that side. Load back up,drive sometimes 5-6 or more miles to get to the other side of the wash and repeat.
Now I am stressing getting fuel for my truck. All gas and diesel is out here and haven't seen any deliveries being made.
Oh well,we got through Floyd,we will get through this.

Good luck Jimmy

Jimmy @ord.sgt.26NC Rosewood Sheetz on 70 has fuel and is open. You have to take the bypass to 581 to get there.
we are good...picked up fuel this morning at a station on 13south.
For us to get to the sheets at Rosewood,I've got to leave here,go to newton grove, hit 701,run up to smithfield, get on 70 and head east. Depending on traffic, over an hours drive.

Yep. We are on the opposite side of the river and that's the only way to Black Jack Church Rd and to the combined cycle plant. A trip that normally takes 3 minutes through the plant now takes 1.25 hours due to high water! We rode in on the National Guard trucks and couldn't get too far due to washed out roads.

We are up on Old Smithfield stockpiling stone at our old entrance. Ended up getting all the quarry had. :(

Back at it tomorrow.

When you come in on Black Jack,One of the founder's of the company I work for lives in the house that faces Black Jack as you turn in towards the Lee plant. The number 2 son lives in the house that sits on the other corner. The Cox's were deeded several thousand acres by King George the second in the mid 1700s and the Lee Plant is on part of that property. They are the reason it is called Quaker Neck.

I always wondered the reasoning behind the Quaker Neck name.

I'm here looking at that house right now. :)

the house is sitting in the original spot but it was built in the 1970s. I believe it's the 3rd or 4th one to be there. Sherman's troops took a horse and buggy from them when they passed by going to Goldsboro.
