Morehead should be fine. I was about 30 min north of beaufort, and we didn't get very much flooding and the wind damage was hit or miss. Nothing like irene or past hurricanes for us.

If your trying to go down you'll need to find away around goldsboro and kinston. The Neuse is up to the bottom of the double bridge (hwy70) in kinston where the public boat ramp is, im sure its higher now. The usgs said it was at 21' and flowing 19700 cubic ft/sec

Buddy in Hatteras lost his truck, all appliances, everything he had. Had 2.5' of water in his house that has not flooded in over 30 years.

Well they stopped by today should have power back next Monday or Tuesday. My parents have no idea when there's will be back on.

Until reading up on this, I had no idea how bad NC got hit. Almost exactly a year ago the big flood hit SC.
I feel for you guys and know all to well how bad it is. Bet of wishes to everyone!

Here in Hartsville, SC we got a lot of damage to the power grid. The power went out on Saturday and most don't have power still. Mine is projected for the weekend. I have no damage to the house or shop/office so far as I can tell. Office which is across form the Nuke plant has power but the house still is out. There are oak trees that were taken out in Hartsville that took out lines across streets they are on. I think they didn't expect us to get much damage but I can tell you this area looks a lot like it did after Hugo hit in 89.... GL all!

We made it through in Charleston with minimal damage. Came back to a bunch of limbs in the backyard, and the power was back on by the time we got here. Water got up pretty high, but wasn't as bad as the flooding this time last year. One guy in our neighborhood did have a big tree end up on his roof. Talked to a girl at our daycare and she said they are still without power up in Dorchester county and wasn't sure when it was going to get fixed.

I will say that the ride back from Greenville was probably the quickest we have made it back from there. I was expecting miles and miles of bumper to bumper traffic but it was easy going the whole way. :driver:

Dorchester and Berkeley are much worse power wise than Charleston

I am supposed to leave for Cape Lookout Friday morning. The islands are scheduled to re-open tomorrow with Ferry service back up and running. However they did receive damage to the cabins and all they are saying is that repairs will begin tomorrow and for us to call back closer to Friday to see if the cabin we rented is ready. Looks like we may be tent camping.

Call Mac (owner of the Cape Lookout Ferry) and he or Brenda can give you some real time updates. I'm considering the trip this weekend if my FIL decides to go. He was supposed to go this past weekend and had to cancel.

We just got power back. :bounce::bounce2:

Ours came on about 5:30 pm Monday.....................for about 30 seconds  It was still out this morning when I left for work.
The wife got a new text from Duke power this morning saying thursday, but ours was on @ 1:45pm ....... Hopefully those w/o will also have it back on sooner than the estimates.

We got a call on Monday that our power had been restored. It had not.

and the beat goes on...
day 4 of before sunup to past sun down.
Wayne county is a mess. Nuese has split us in two. So many washouts that the state hasn't put up enough barriers to keep dumbasses from running off in them. Not the state's fault.Hell, they drive around them just to drive in and drown.
What i am doing,we get a lead on an area that doesn't have water. We arrive on one side of the washout. Dig down on the water main a good distance away from breakage yet past last house affected on that side. Cut main and cut in a plug. Install a blow off tap and then get water back to that side. Load back up,drive sometimes 5-6 or more miles to get to the other side of the wash and repeat.
Now I am stressing getting fuel for my truck. All gas and diesel is out here and haven't seen any deliveries being made.
Oh well,we got through Floyd,we will get through this.
