The donation one is one of my biggest pet peeves.
People are too dumb to realize the gig. You throw your money in the bucket. Then the store gives your money to the charity - only the donation is from the store - so the store gets a tax write off for charitable contributions. You are not only making the stores profit with your purchases you are also paying their taxes with your donation.
