Well i just got home to asheboro from base and its raining pretty good here whats it look like yalls way?Might be a little wet tomm. out there that being said what are we gonna be doing on our team and do I need to bring anything?

Yep, organization is going great. Helping with this work day is giving me good experience for future endeavors with clean up days, etc. The first trail cleanup day this year will be just as organized. :)

Talked with Janet this afternoon she has 2 sites set aside for camping at Arrowhead. I will be talking to her at the campgrounds in the morning before the meet up time at the Hunt Camp. I will also be calling Terry in the morning to give her a final headcount.

It will probably be wet out there, so boots will be a must for the mud. But the mud hole won't be an issue. The guard rail is going up behind the mud hole in an arch. All the work areas have been tied off with orange/red markers.

Let me address something about the trails. Some may note that other groups that have adopted trails have talked about doing trail runs after the trail work is done on their trail. 1st off we don't know how long the trail work will last. And I don't know if we will be allowed to run the trail(s) or not. Remember the 516 spot and the 2nd double ledge mud pit aren't that far into the trail. The trails are still closed at this point, so it is up to Terry and the Forest Service if we do any trail riding.

Not to be a downer, but go up there only expecting to ride on the trail(s) as far as work is needed. And if we are allowed to ride on the trails for recreation consider it a plus. My fault that I neglected to ask Terry about this when I was up there surveying the trail work needed last weekend.

We should consider this our chance at the beginning of a regular deal/work day. If this work days go smoothly there is nothing stopping us from having future work days. Between myself organizing the Work Days with the FS and Cltdba working with the FS on the Clean Up Days the group here on NC4X4 will be on its way to making a difference in keeping our trails open. See everyone in the morning at the Hunt Camp. I am off to get some last minute prep for tomorrow done.

well dummy me but I left my rubber boots back at base so looks like Im going to get my rockys muddy!I actually took my girl out tonight and somehow got my new bucket seats in the yota!See yall in the morning!

Well Chris(cltdba) and me loaded up the truck tonight and are hooking the trailer up with bobcat already loaded in the morning. We will see ya'll in the morning.

I've got a size 12 you cam borrow. Also have size 8s I'll bring with me in case anyone with small feet needs them. My new work boots are waterpoof leather. Ingenious invention. :)

Wow! What a great day and what a great turn out! We got all of the guard rail put up. We ended up not having to do the fencing on 516 because another group took care of it. It was a fun filled day working with Terry Savery from the FS and the rest of the nc4x4 crew. I can't thank you guys enough for coming out and helping. Everything was well organized and things went VERY smoothly. Hopefuly Eli's kidneys aren't bleeding from all the bouncing he did in the bobcat. :D

Click the picture below to go to the album to see the rest of the pics of the day. Don't worry Ben, I left the one where your crack was hanging out! hahahah

Left to right: DRaider90, cltdba, Mike?, mudder, scjeep, gus203, mbost, witchdoctor, oleblue, JC

Bigben75Ford had to leave early and missed the pic

Big thanks to DRaider90 and cltdba for organizing this NC4x4 workday and getting the skidsteer w/auger there. Hats off for a great job guys.

The equipment allowed us to get all the guardrail they had on hand installed and the FS was very appreciative of our efforts.

This was the last major FS off season workday as the trails open Thursday, April 1st. Also in attendance, working on their adopted trails were the Full Size Jeep Club and Old North State Cruisers.

The trails are looking good, and are ready for action. Hope to see you on the trails at Uwharrie soon.

Had a great time working and meeting all of you. Looking forward to Doing some trail riding with you guys soon.
My hat's off to Eli for the beating he took on the bobcat. Glad to be part of a great group helping to make the FS job a little easier.:Rockon::Rockon:

A big thanks to everyone that showed up and worked, and made this the first successful NC4X4 trail work day. A big thanks to hscrugby and the others that pitched in for the bobcat rental, thanks to Chris (Cltdba) for covering the rest of the rental and transporting the bobcat, and again everyone that took their time to come out and work one the trail. I will say being able to operate the bobcat to drill the post holes was a blast, and I will say for lack of a better word riding the trail in it was "interesting". If you call bouncing around and getting slammed all over the place interesting. I guess I am one of the few people that can say I wheeled Falls Dam in skid loader, and it is an experience I will never forget.

Thanks again to Terry and the FS for letting us be out on the trails working and helping out.

I am glad Chris got a lot of pictures, including the bobcat poser shots, and the bobcat going through the water/mud puddles. I will say doing water crossings is a lot different in a skid loader. But I will have my pictures up soon, going to send a PM with them over to saf-t" first.

Going to talk with Terry about organizing another work day for NC4X4. There is a good possibility it will go with the 3rd weekend of every month that the FS is planning. But I will talk to her about seeing if we can do a more heavy duty work day at some point also maybe installing more guard railing etc.

I uploaded my pictures in full resolution for the write up, if I get a chance later I will re-size them. But for now here are the links:

I planned to email mine to him, but uploading them to imageshack is a good idea. Photobucket won't let you do full rez unless you go pro.
