Did a reset on my welding cart today.

Got my new Everlast Powertig 250ex and w300 cooler in this week. I moved the miller diversion 165 to bench welding set up, along with the thermal dynamics plasma cutter. I put the millermatic 185 back on its own axles... I'm hooked on tig, I don't expect to use it near as much any longer...

It's a bolt together table, stepper motors. My initial plan was to buy the JD Squared, but after careful consideration, just could not justify the investment, right now. I'm in this table for a third of what a premium unit would cost. I'm at a severe deficit on computer capabilities, lots to learn in the cad/cam department.
It ships with sheetcam, mach 3, viacad, and inkscape. I upgraded to the licensed version of sheetcam, intro only comes with 300 lines of gcode per part. I didn't get a THC, but I will likely add it soon. The computer tower also ships with about 6500 dxf files of text and art.
I also hooked up with Dan at bend tech, during fabtech, I'll soon be adding bend tech pro with the sheet packages add-ons.

No, that's the color his products are originally. Just happens to be a near match to everlast. That's the everlast 80s cnc unit, under $2g even after I added the 70 piece consumable kit.
Thre table goes together very well and pretty square and level. It's expandable; cost effective to make it a 4x8 if I see the need later. They also offer a tubing cutting attachment, which is attractive to me, but likely not useful on a 4' table.

No. I opted for water table. But I'm going to add a welding curtain over the open end, that's why I enclosed it so. To keep fabrication dust off it when not in use.



Just so happened to watch a video the other day on premium tables versus stepper units. Some very valid points were made. #1 was that as a small company, if you have some parts go down, the steppers and accommodating parts are very inexpensive... basically I could have 4 spare motors on hand for roughly $100, versus having a single proprietary spare servo motor at $400.

12 hours at the computer since energizing the table. With the help of Nick K and Chris Marshall, who were both gracious enough to give me a few hours of phone time, I finally got edges and holes dialed in on 12 ga material! First fully cad designed and cnc cut pieces in shop! Soon to be installed on 3DB[emoji16][emoji16][emoji16][emoji16].

The dirty room thread got me looking for my old shop thread. Here's some pics from the new additions. Goal was to have a dirty room for all grinding and cutting processes. We closed in both 15x25 sheds (15x20 on dirty side, 15x25 on warehouse side- nearly 700ft² total with another 375 in the new shed), with one end being dirty, and the far end as parts warehouse and shop buggy storage. Also added a new shed enclosed on 3 sides. Additionally, I always hated the grade of my lot, the ramps on the front of the building were always a pain in the ass and eyesore. so i created a raised area in front of the building. Now have easy entry and the ability to roll vehicles out by hand rather than hooking up the skid steer.

The main area of 1350 ft² will now only contain buggies, bending tools, lathe and bandsaw (which have chip trays), and a plumbing and wiring station bench.

And finally indoor plumbing, and a more proper office/cnc station.

Currently I am roughing the wiring in both new areas and black pipe plumbing for the new location of air compressor, finish wiring in office and bathroom are complete. Insulation team installs Monday. 12' x 8' garage door won't arrive until March 15th. Slat-wall, to cover nearly all walls in dirty room, will arrive next week. White metal ceiling will go in last.

Nice mathing but I think you mean...TOTAL under roof = NOT BIG ENOUGH...really never big enough.

must go through a distributor. My contractor/cousin (Mitchell Custom Builders) uses Parkers Building Supply. For comparison, in 2011 when we started original construction it was $1.75 linear ft, now it is closer to $3.

They will cut to your specific length and also sale brake metal particulars, like J channel, corner beads and rat guard.

CutlerFab shop remodel is 98% complete and is 100% functional. There are a few more small details to be done, just waiting on shipping. First pic is a before and after of the main area. I now have room for 4 buggies in different stages. So nice to have a dirty/grinding room to contain all the dust and grime. Now everything I touch won't be covered in a layer of grit. Also swapped out all lighting for LED, so much easier on the eyes now with less shadow. And having the warehouse area to store mine and client parts, rather than having them shoved in every nook and cranny or on my work spaces should certainly help with productivity.

Time to finish some buggies...
