Project Racin' Taco (ECORS racer build-up)

Thanks chris.

Here is a pic of the Ruffstuff Specialties rear axle, and no, I dont plan to leave it red. This thing is BEEFY, also thanks to Billy @ Olivers for chucking it up in the lathe to weld in the spindles nice and straight.

Went about doing the SAS a little different than normal. Definetly saved some time and looks a heck of alot better. Going to make some poly motor mounts. The frame plates are from Sky Manufacturing, I figured I would still use them for extra strength and to tie the 2x3 to the factory frame. Ryan, I'll be ordering some 16" shocks for the front soon enough, probably some bumpstops too, but I have other things more important right now, like getting this thing rolling!

Looks good michael, Are you really going to put high dollar fiberglass fenders on it. One good bump and they'll be toast.

I think I will make the bedsides easily removable so I can take them off for the races‚ especially tight quarters courses. After selling the bed and front fenders I guess I only have about $200 in the fiberglass.

On another note, Rebecca (wife) has made a request for the paint color to be the bright blue like the newer tacoma's.

Looks great! We've came a long way since we started messing with stuff in high school. Next time i'm up in the 336 area i'd like to stop by and take a look, maybe even pick your brain a bit.

Hey Michael, let me know if you don't plan on using those 6" shackles you had mocked up in the rear last time I was out there. I think they would work good on the Nissan

Because those shackles would need to compress up into the tube, if you made a regular horizontal brace across them I don't think that would be too great. Might try a )IIII( kind of shape on the back side of the shackle, so that the top side can still compress. I would figure they would also need to be on the lower end of the shackle too. Props for going spring under. I think you'll enjoy it. My junk is SUA, and it hooks up just as well as a linked rig in my opinion... with no traction bars. (And I still have 12" under the lowest point, my housing, on my front axle on 36s.) I have yet to come across a scenario where I wish it was SOA.

Have you seen these?

got to see this beast saturday looking great man! I cant wait to see how those baja springs perform!

336wheeler, already have those plates from ruffstuff, just didn't have them when I got the springs, I also have to enlarge the holes to fit the 3.5" axletubes. Mud cut me a plate that will still allow for alot of compression, but I am wondering if tying the two shackles would create more bind. I may just reinforce each shackle seperately.

Got the front tab for the bedside on tonight, gonna look sweet, will be stuffing 37's, 20" frame height as of right now, that may need to go up some though.

Looks good Michael. Very similar to some ideas i have been kicking around in my head, but I'm stuck on the idea of longtravel ifs. The solid axle is stronger for sure though.

too bad the stars wont align, I wont have the money, and this thing wouldnt be for sale in pristine condition in a few years haaahah

I keep telling myself it WON'T go up for sale. That's why I am spending the money to put nice parts on it. I like the buggy and it has alot of nice stuff, but I want something I can mall crawl, drive to the trails (for day trips), and race.

Hopefully it will be in (close to) pristine condition in a few years, but not gonna be for sale...
