Project Racin' Taco (ECORS racer build-up)

I dont like, would rather mount fan underneath blowing up and out... maybe a louvered shroud like late 80's american sports cars hahaha

(no offense, pure honesty)

Yea I was wanting the shroud to do most of the 'work', just in case the fans weren't enough (hopefully it won't be a problem with that much coolant). But I don't really like the way it looks.

Louvers, now that's some work....

needs more style than that, something like this will do.

With that beast of a radiator, Its going to take a hour to heat it up!

Seriously though, most race trucks with a radiator mounted there put the fans on top and push the air through. Sucker fans pulling through that duct arent going to cut it. That set up would be like putting your hand over your mouth while you are jogging. It would be better to leave it open or build a much more open duct. Just my .02!

Yea after making it I thought it was too small and would probably restrict airflow. I may just put fans on it and call it done, the radiator on my honda buggy gets virtually no airflow, and is mounted right beside the engine, plus it is alot smaller. It only overheats after hard driving on hot days, and 'overheated' for it is only 215*.

Would it not be more logical to mount fans below and blow up and away from cab? I definitely agree that blowing across radiator is the better option.

my statement stands regarding the louvered cover, twould be pimp.... pimp.

OR: Roll the windows up, turn the A/C on, THEN floor it :D

Now ur talking! I am going to be able to hang meat in my prerunner Scout! Fat boys like me need the a/c!

BTW... Give me a call before you head over to our dealership in High Point. 704-621-0071

And a pic of the Infamous Metalworks lower link bracket, again, VERY nice and stout design. Their crossmember is the best out there for this application, could be used on front or rear, VERY BEEFY design! You can check their stuff out here: http://store.infamousmetalworks.com/

Finally some progress...
Finally got a transfer case from a friend a week or so ago, I tore it apart, put my Marlin Crawler Competition 4.7 gears in, Inchworm gear adapter bolted up, so I should have it bolted up to the transmission tomorrow so I can work on welding up the crossmember.

What knuckles are you gonna use? Have you looked at hellfires?

Yea I have seen them, and plan to run them. The time to buy them is gonna be pretty soon so I can get the front axle assembled and have this thing sitting on the tires... Just haven't been able to bring myself to spend the $$$ to buy them yet.

Got the T-case bolted up, had to jack it up where it basically touches the tranny tunnel for the crossmember to fit underneath it, had to clearance the crossmember slightly to clear the drain plug. Should have the crossmember welded in today, and will work on a t-case mount tomorrow. If I would have run a drivers side drop t-case, I could have clocked it up more and would have been able to fit the crossmember without issue, but running a gear drive case, I could only clock it 10* up. Pics to come later!

Frame plate for the Infamous Metalworks crossmember:

Rear view, I had to jack the trans/t-case up where it basically touches the floorpan to give room for the crossmember to fit underneath it. I had to trim the crossmember slightly right at the drain plug, may try and find a lo-pro drain plug as well, or just grind this one down some. Worst case scenario, I would have to remove the center of the crossmember to drain the fluid.

Front view, I had a heck of a time getting the top bolt out of the transmission extension housing (it broke). Now I just need to make a mount for the t-case, I have some polyurethane bushings for that.

I don't know if said it or not but are you gonna run full hydro?

I am running an IFS steering box, and will run hydro assist, gonna be a street legal truck, so I wanted to keep it 'legal' and still have a mechanical linkage, plus the hydro assist I had on my old Tacoma worked pretty good, this one should be setup nicer.
