Project Steampunk Vol.2

Shoot, I was missing you before it was cool.

I believe I told you months ago you were missed..... welcome back old friend. Glad I could have a hand in it! You are welcome on a rid/camp along any time. Oh yea the wife and I liked the oatmeal raisin cookies you left in the bed of the truck! :D We need a eating smiley as much as you guys talk about food!

I figured this would be a good time to fill everyone in on some upgrades I've made since I left.
One is tires. For $1042 shipped through Amazon, I got a cherry set of Patagonia MTs. 37x12.50x17. They're a new player in the big rubber game with a large hype of following. I mounted these on a set of 17x9 D window steel wheels (for simplicity) in my backyard nearly a year ago. I used approximately 2500 .12 gram airsoft BBs per tire. Notice the price tag. They are CHEAP and work.
My intentions were, and still are, to have an ultimate in universal wheeling tires that double as everyday highway tires. The Patagonia MT delivers flawlessly. They are freakishly quiet, smooth, and they bite into dirt like there's no tomorrow! I strongly recommend them. I really need to rotate these at some point. The rears are a lot lower in tread than the front. 70% rear and 92% front...for comparison purposes. Or I could just quit driving like a dip shit. I'll get these rotated by this weekend.

I really needed to make some upgrades to my hideous dash/center console. I mounted a TSC special ammo box between the seats for wallet, cellphone, trail maps, business cards, tools and such. Pretty damn nice having a waterproof storage.
The dash panels are all pre-measured for an exact fit, CAD drawn,
and Waterjet cut at work. That's kinda what I do.

You'll also notice a Kenwood head unit and twin 6" Enrock speakers. These are made for boating, but work great in a Jeep. Let it rain hard enough... meh, what's the difference?
Hopefully Chrysler doesn't mind me borrowing this logo. If they do, f*** it, I did it on lunch break.

And then we have A-B-C cage tie ins. All present and accounted for.
IMG_20200928_182843105.jpg

I also moved my fuel cell forward so I can fit my Canyon55. Best mod yet, hands down.

So THATS where the deuce they ended up!?!

16 hours and no scantily clad women or heavy metal YouTube links? Sheesh. Welcome back I guess... :D

Ah come on... I posted scantly clad womenses in post#1.
The critics these days.

I'll get back to the metal once this playlist is over.

Country has a way of talking to the soul, and the southern savages. :D

Well... That's the jail they took me to since the county courthouse of Calhoun county doesn't have a jail of its own. I almost consider myself lucky to have seen the inside of the old Orangeburg jail (built in the 50's or possibly before). Barely a week after I left, they moved the inmates over to the new jail which was completed just weeks ago. As was asked by a personal friend of mine, DNR officer Hawkins, who stopped by OCDC Sunday around mid day to set my bond, "how was it?", my reply is unchanged. It'll give you f*n nightmares.

That’s a damn strong response considering who said it. I’ve never met you, but I’ve followed your posts. If you say it’ll give you f*n nightmares, that’s really bad!

Well if the soundtracks identify the season....methinks the Warlock has also done some self investing.......time, reflection, and growth. A year older, a year wiser. A year older, a year clearer. Looking forward to you being you.
Also missed your history lessons and life adventures, glad to have the SC river rat back.

As others, glad to see ya back.
Still have your previous "Jeep"....rewired, reworked firewall & power brake assembly, added power steering anti spill reservoir (after an exciting steep angle flame-up!) rebuilt front axle with detroit and new R&P, all new bearing and seals, springless king pin, and "Carolina Driveline" solid u-joints and front driveshaft.
Down again now for more mods...redoing floor for more interior room and clearance for twin-stick txcase, and trans gated shifter, trussed rear axle, R Currie anti rock , R bump stops, replacing fuel cell with upright, bladder style for safety & more 'cargo room', and a few other things.
Didn't mean to hijack your thread, but thought you'd like to know your previous "Baby" was being taken care of.
Also, you did a hell of a job with the YJ tub and frame you got from me, and looking forward to your new post!

Take care of my baby and I'll take care of yours!! It's time for a family reunion.

Just a few things we've been doing at work. Boyd plaza at the Art museum in downtown Columbia that we completed last year was a huge success. It's certainly a focal point for the local art scene. Now, the Boyd foundation has now included an island to their collection. This island in particular is located adjacent to Riverbanks zoo where the Saluda and Broad meet to form the Congaree. Highlighted here is it's exact location.
Screenshot_20201001-114001~2.png

The only access to the island (accessible by zoo property), besides by boat or kayak/canoe is by bridge. We were contracted to build park amenities for the public to enjoy. This is still in Phase 1 for us. This list includes stonework and hardscaping, along with flood-proof seating and picnic tables. All outdoor furniture was CAD drawn, Waterjet cut, welded, sandblasted, powdercoated and installed by us here at Stuyck Company. To make the install happen, we had to think a little out of the box. We employed our New Holland EC35 mini-ex and a custom built pull-behind trailer to move the finished products and hardscaping materials out to the island for install. It is quite awesome. I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story.

Yep. Right below the Millrace rapids is a good spot and just below the second rapids is another spot I see people catching 30"+ all the time.

I need to figure out where to go ride this weekend. Being that my Jeep is still mismatch geared (3.73 front, 4.56 rear), I'll settle for a back road. Oh yeah, I need to recenter my steering wheel.

Plenty of gas!

I wish lol. The stock TJ FLSU quit a while back. I'm still holding off for a full custom stainless cell I'm planning on starting soon. Already got a price on Argon. Literally, the only thing I'm missing is some 308L filler and a tank of Argon from being able to build it right here at the house. I'll be using this FLSU in it, which is compatible with the ohm reading for the guage, and is the right depth for what my finished cell dimensions will be.
New dimensions will be 12"x12"x35". I haven't calculated the gallon capacity yet but it's better than what I currently have.
I've also since ditched the Walbro 255 for an Aeromotive, which has proven to be a far more reliable pump. I have no issue at all with an in-tank pump.

That’s roughly 20 gallons if my math was correct! ;)

My once in a full moon maintenance check night is going on in my backyard. Fire pit is rolling, music going, cold beer on ice and a Chevy v8 idling in the background and food on the grill.
Roll that beautiful twang footage!
Or rock. Keep it classy.

"Got shackles on my wings, on tight.
Beggin', making compromise.
Fast enough, it's hard to hide...
Sometimes I want to disappear."

The river life is real.
My journey started at Lake Monticello. I've posted quite a few pictures of this lake but never gave it's name. If you ever visit, respect it. You'll notice a very large house up on a hill overlooking the entire lake. They call it the "Pearl of Monticello" and it's breath-takingly beautiful.

After a few hours paddling, I loaded up and took some back roads up the Broad river system to some old roads and trails that ended up in the town of Blair. The town vanished in the 1950s when the local rock quarries and the Shivers bottling plant shut down. The ruins remain.

Deep in these woods live some of the coolest folks you've ever met, and a history dating back to 1745 during the settlement of Lyle's Ford. A close friend of mine for over 15 years is Mr. Claude. He served during the Vietnam war in the Army and survived a gunshot to the face while in battle. He was born and raised on this river. His property is on an old farmstead, complete with a 3-story barn that was built by his grandfather. It's always a pleasure to stop by and check on him. That's family.

The '54 Chevy does still run and is driven regularly. It still baffles me. This man is a gold mine of knowledge.
