Just a few relics from my morning stroll.

A couple of my buddies that joined me on a ride today. Whether you speak Knucklehead, Dana, Panhead, Aluminum head, Spicer or Dynaglide... A gearhead is a gearhead. Let's go have fun.

You are going to think I'm making this up but I rode through Blair Saturday morning.
Had to make a run down to Cola to pick up some lost freight. So .ca I had a few hours with no where to be I took the scenic route home came up 215, backside of sumner, then tailrace rd to trssel rd, cut back left before you get to 34...cut back to 215...up to leeds, stopped by the range, then up to #9, to Lockhart and then back to bullocks creek

We must have barely missed each other. Granted I was on lake Monticello in the am hours. I pulled into the 34 boat ramp around 1.
 
Replacing a worn out fan clutch...with a 300k mile working fan clutch.... because it's Monday and I'm broke 'til Friday. My collection of 4.8/5.3 parts laying around the shop pays for itself one piece at a time.
This past weekend was a blast. There is nothing more relaxing than herding some ponies down a long stretch of backroad with a boat strapped to the roof and partying in the woods with the coolest people you won't even remember meeting come morning. Pitch a tent and recharge for day 2...or 3, or 8. And then to top it off, true outlaw motorcyclists know how to have a damn good time. As long as you can keep up, do it. Consider it an accomplishment. Go have fun. No one lives forever. ~XJsavage

The meer fact that they're around $120 for an OEM clutch is the reason I keep them stockpiled myself. I was hoping to meet up with you at URE weekend before last. Next time, it's on! :beer:
 
Our newest edition to Stuyck company and a pleasure to introduce, is our official lady welder/fabricator/sand blaster, Jeanine. Her experience in the welding shop is still very young. With a few years of welding school in her back pocket, doorways began to open for a fresh start after serving a lengthy prison sentence. The skills are there. Me personally knowing first hand the crash course transition from welding school to a welding career, I'm more than willing to lend a helping hand to anyone with the ambition to try. She has that too, and enough to be the envy of anyone. The fighting chance to get back on her feet was due to the righteousness of Chris Stuyck himself. The boss of bosses.

Rock the f**k on, Miss Jeanine. The misfits have got your back.

I like to spy the "Symphonic metal lovers" group on FB just to stay up with all the newest bands from all over the world. The sub-genre is MASSIVE and so is the fan base.

This girlfriend I had in high school introduced it to me...she liked to sing hair metal while going for a ride...thinking about that now makes me a dirty old man given our ages at the time and all...but in those images Im still 15 as well so think that makes it all good.

She's a prim and proper school teacher now in the same town we grew up in with 3 cute little daughters always dressed identical at every Friday football game. Her husband is a stuffy banker who looks down his nose at everyone with dirty hands because he makes $60k/year as a branch manager (I mean err VP of branch operations)...everytime she sees me she speaks. Im married so like a dog on a chain I just run to the end of my leash and bark but...the mind is a powerful movie player...
perhaps this is all just made up BS...
perhaps Ive said too much...

We've got a film crew here with us today. We are working on a bench project for the city of Cayce that much like a lot of what we do, has never quite been seen before. This guy will be filming various stages of the project. CAD drawing, loading plate material onto the table, welding and fabrication, sandblasting and powder coating, and even install.

Rainy weekend fab project. Chase the spiders and palmetto bugs away, I gots an idea...
After a few wet trips up to TSC and back, I finally ended up with the correct sealed bearings to complete this. Custom steering column, minus all the plasticy BS. It's a direct linkage. I just didn't need a key cylinder, built in turn signal switch, or hazard light complications. All those surplus wires were giving me a damn headache. Take it back to the simpler days!
I can share full specs on this exact operation if anyone is interested. Pretty self explanatory.

At the lower end of the shaft, you're dealing with just shy of 1" OD, calling for a sealed bearings of 1" ID, with an OD of ~2".

At the upper end, it's .75".
The OD of that bearing is 1.875"
I used a 25" section of 1.875" schedule 80 pipe, with shorter sections on either end to "hug" the OD of the bearings as tight as possible. Utilize the factory preload spring and the OD shaft collars to get the preload just right. Through the firewall in a YJ is a 2-piece clamp that holds the assembly in place, while a weldable tab will be needed to set the height to a permanent alignment in the cab.
 
For clarification, and to add to the bastardry of "pipe vs tubing" sizing, this is the OD of the sch80 (maybe 40((?)) ((( I don't f*n know))) I was using.
