Project Steampunk

The only time I've done a voyage to the coast was down the Santee river from just below lake Moultrie to the coast. Took nearly 5 days through some very deep dark woods. By the time I got to hwy 17 bridge in Georgetown just south of Myrtle Beach, that's where it went brackish. It was really neat. I actually got to see aligators swimming right next to porpoises. Cool shit.
I'm really wanting to take another trip like that again.
Sounds like a great trip. My biggest limiting factor is that I have almost no storage on my kayak.

I use to dream of putting in the South Edisto on my family's property and floating down to Edisto Island....... there are actually a couple small rapids along that property. We use to put in and float down to the us1 bridge. I need to go do that again......

I live in those "very deep dark woods" below moultrie on the santee river haha the river is great when they are letting water out of the lakes, if they dont its a little tricky on a boat. Hardly ever anyone out on it boat ramp stays empty so i enjoy it

As I left high Point, I decided to eat some Mexican food and grab a few drinks before I head south. I found a little place located in a fairly run down looking industrial area. Perfect. Food was good. Pacifico was cold.

Aside from the "industrial" setting and cold beer, sounds like the Taco Corner (& mexican grocery) just north of the 85's on Main... while the cooks are Guatemalan, some of the best around!

Instinctively, I reach down in very close proximity to my blade. I keep a variety depending on the situation.

Never leave home without one...or more.

Now you're that much more ahead of me again with your build. I too am lacking a windshield (I've got an incredibly fogged and pitted piece of Lexan in mine at the moment from years of sitting outside). I've just about given up hope that I'd ever find a piece of glass whether on its own or in a rotted frame and just about surrendered myself to the fact that I'd have to get a shop to install one for similar quotes you listed above...but maybe, just maybe, I'll be lucky enough to one day repurpose one that is of no further use to someone else.

ah, you hit the I85 cabarrus county bottle neck, when they get finished it will be smooth sailing thru north cackalacky.
hit it on a Friday and you'll be really bad off they're spose to be done late fall this year

I’m glad I’m not the only one that enjoys being on the water as much as wheeling. Sitting at the Mexican place that you can get to by water, watching the sunset. The wheels in my brain are turning thinking about what i need to do to my rig.

Damn right! Having the two funnest hobbies in the world ready to go is an epic feeling! ;)

Slam a pitcher of XX Amber while you're there and I'll keep on sipping banquets on the beach.

Gf feels better about driving this boat then my old one so I’m doing my share of the beer drinking

Not the same style, but I always carry a Kershaw blade nonetheless. Have I mentioned I envy your lifestyle? :smokin:

Let the rain come down! The update I've been waiting to post for 3 years now, and a cozy dry place to continue this twisted evolution. I've forgotten how much fun it really is to have a built Jeep to drive to and from work, especially with half the company so far into the same addiction. The rest can't even phathom the madness of what goes on after hours here and in our own backyards. To finally see it in person says it all; this is what we do.

Speak to me about that Verson press. Approximate age? Tonnage capacity? Very cool!

Awesome! If you roll that thing to Camden give me a hollar... we've almost got the MJ drive-able.

It just dawned on me who that is. Aaron Carroway? I linked up with him once to do some bowfishing at Devil's elbow Wateree. If it is, get me his contact info.
Sounds about right. Sent you a text. Tell him I need Justin's tire grover back!

Nice Deanna and I have been talking about hitting the river in downtown Columbia....

We'd have to rent some yaks. I think we saw that place in the vista does that or does tours.

Man I love this build, and this thread!

I need a boat but don’t wanna spend the cash until I have a rig on trails lol double edge sword!

Bumper looks good! I’m digging the carrier bolts on the fenders too!
