Project Steampunk

Yea Broken Nut is close by and so is Gulches.... If you want to run around URE one Saturday just let me know..... You got my number...... I'm need to take the jeep wheeling instead of stump pullin.....

Took the night off of all the craziness to catch up on your thread whilst listen to a Danheim playlist :). Was cool to meet you. Can't wait to get the Angel done and go wheeling sometime. But making money comes before fun. Nice work bro.

They really serve no purpose other than by mildly protecting the winch and warding off evil spirits depending on how you look at it.
It's part of the PABOI (paint a bird on it) signature line. Any great artist, many of whom I admire and look up to greatly, from all types of areas have their own detail signature that they add to their work to leave their mark; that personal touch. The horns are mine. Inspired by events in my life.
We’ll make your detail signature “Horny Savage”... kinda has a ring to it too! The women will love it too!

Came back to visit to steal a picture of your hydraulic assist parts list. I assume the locations of the fittings on your YJ box are the same as my XJ steering box?

I’ll be adding an oil cooler to my setup as well. The 37s overheated my pump last time I hit the trails and fluid barfed everywhere.

I promise I don't mean to derail this thread, but I always had a question about hydro assist. I see some people drill the box, I have one myself. I also see the caps available too. Does drilling the box and using the end cap have the same result?

for reference of the part....
DIY 4x :: Steering :: Hydro assist steering box cap

In the end, the same result is there. Unless you're super careful like @XJsavage , you'll need to disassemble the steering box to ensure that no metal shavings make it into the box when you drill and tap the box itself. With the end cap, you still have to drill and tap the top cap. However, the upside to doing it this way is that, 1) you don't have to disassemble the whole box and 2) should the box itself ever get destroyed, you can simply swap the top cap and end cap to a new box and rock on.

Oh brother.... one should not LS swap the world! Don't follow the masses...... be unique!

Nice...I'd love to build a cage one day. But I don't have access to the goodies like that...And I'm not about to do miters on box tubing.

Hey, that nectar is made right up the road a short way from me. And Victory (if you care for their wonderful flavors) is all but about right across the street from me as well. Might be good reason to have a NC group come up to Rausch Creek one of these years if I ever finish my pile of scrapyard trash.

When do we get to see you beat on this thing?

Now that this big project is finished and the after work wrenching parties are picking up again, it won't be long.

So do they happen on Fridays too? Maybe I'll head to Camden via shop rd next time I'm at Conquest....

For the last 6 months here at work we've all had our heads and hands in the creation of the Boyd Plaza renovation project at the Columbia museum of arts in downtown. This massive construction project is indefinitely one of the largest we've ever done, but also has concreted our names not only in the art community, but in all of Columbia.. This is our shrine to the art world, and to our wonderful city. This project brought all of us here at Stuyck closer together. We're family. It also marks my personal milestone of officially becoming a waterjet operator and truly sharpened my welding skills in every process and on multiple different materials like I never would have dreamed.
Today was when we finished out the endless punch list and tonight is the celebration party where all can marvel at the unique creations we've all worked so hard on. If you ever happen to be in the area, stop by and see this. And remember, XJsavage was here.

I've been watching some of the work from my boss's window, but I was out last week with the flu. Guess I missed the opening.

Im still waiting for the day that I'll find old willys or old jeeps in somebody's backyard and I can take it away for next to nothing. Lucky score!

Dude...I f'n hate you. In a cool, admiration sort of way. So do I sense 13 more build threads coming our way? Or will this one be augmented in a big way?

Oh, and that hunk of junk engine that you posted a picture of is faaaaaar too gone to do anything with. You may as well let me take it off your hands. Deal?

Am I missing something? That’s a nova not a Chevelle. [emoji2955]
Still haven’t seen a hatch one. Interesting.

Now you've got me curious.... What are the chances this is a 396? Do you know something I don't?
that Velle is 100% mine, just a matter of getting it drug to my house. As far as what's in it I'd like to keep the powerglide, if that turns out to be what it is. As far as identifying an engine by looking at it, I'd spend more time on Google than I would pulling it. Since I know you have the capability, knowledge and recources to do something with it, I'd make it more than worth your time to drive down and pick it up. Just give me a few days for it the end up in my driveway. I can photo verify anything you need to see on it.
I guess I should go ahead and mention I also bought a late 60s early 70s Buick Skylark.

;) I might know a thing or two, if that is a factory engine for the car. If it is in fact a 72, chances are pretty good that it's a 396 or a true 402. I was going to say it looks like a Chevy II to me, but couldn't quite tell from the pics. Could quite possibly be backed by a 'glide as well. The shape on the end of the cylinder head points to a 396, but the only way to really tell is by the casting number on the back of the block on the drivers side next to the distributor hole. You could also find a stamping on the head deck on the front passenger side (that exposed area of the head deck in front of the cylinder head). Those heads, I can tell you, are the large oval port, not the truck "peanut port" that was widely used on truck 454s. You could make a nice strong mill easily with what sits in there with so much as a valvetrain and intake swap.

Nice score all the way around! Especially with the Skylark too. That's an awesome find!

That's what was throwing me off. I can't tell that old crap apart

Nova’s are not my cup of tea but I believe 73 was the introduction of the Hatchback. So it’s not a 72. Factory motors would have been 6cyl, 307 or 350.

Would be the last year of the power glide so that’s a possibility.

From the pic and accessory bolt hole orientation or whatever there called looks like a 87< smallblock or could be a 66< big block. Good luck
