It's really just a reason to get on the air.

Every week of the 4th of July ( 1st-7th ) they have a "13 Colonies" Special Event.
Hams in the original 13 colonies get on the air for 7 days for others all over the US and world to contact.
For the other hams, the challenge is all 13 for a sweep and 3 bonus stations.
For the special event ops .....it's who makes the most total contacts.
This year NC, operating as K2J with 30 or so individual ops won the total run and we got these plaques.

I am going to get my OCFD antenna up and get the radio (Kenwood TS430) set up soon. It’s been all in boxes since the move.

Hahaha nah, not this time. I woke up in a hammock on the lake both days.
This one looked a little disgruntled to find out we were grilling chicken though 😂
Broad River clubhouse always eats good.

I thought was the only reason @D2320M refuses to support the site by paying the measly $5 was b/c of Shawn. I see now I'm mistaken...

Next time I'm at your house I'm going to mention to your wife that " if Matthew had as much motivation in his daily life as he does showing off on nc4x4 maybe he could actually get some things done around the house"
