Random pic thread.

Do you use those "extra thin" ones linked? I see HyFlex has a couple different models/styles.
I really want to try some based on your experience but I don't want to commit to 10 pairs lol.
Yeah, the ones I linked are the only ones I’ve tried. Some of the thicker ones would be good for heavier work I’m sure, but I have no problem with these holding up. The rubber coating on the palm/fingers wears off eventually, but even then they still work good.

We were gonna go but didn't wanna be gone 4 weekends in a row :(

Wife started flagging trees this week to thin out some areas. She had no idea what she was getting me into :D I flagged a few more, and took a pic of every tree...

Then sent her an itemized quote!

Started working trees around 4pm and stopped at 7:30. Big highlight was getting the chipper going again for the first time since about April 2022 when the clutch went out.

Little guy was really upset about this one because it was his "favorite climbing tree" (even though I don't recall ever seeing him climb it).

16 trees done, plus a few more 3-5" ones not on the list. Now she owes me $1440 (or trade of equal value )

What kind of savage could cut down a dogwood?!

Agree, but one half was dead, and the other half was dying.

If you look in the background there's a nicer dogwood that's NOT coming down.

I understand that. Fortunately, SJAFB is only about an hour from home, and since the Blue Angels were coming we put it pretty high on our event list for this spring.

I saw them there a few times with scouts. Always fun.

Another 14 trees today. Main thing was these twin 19" poplars. Drop zone was pretty tight because of some surrounding oaks, a big dogwood, and a bigleaf magnolia. But got em both down without damaging anything.

Chipper is 18" capacity, but if you hold the end of the log up, the crusher wheels will let a 19" log in ;)

Of course no good deed goes unpunished :(

Thats actually the first time ive ever had it jam up by simply being overwhelmed with chips. Usually its something wet and stringy or leafy. But this was just such a mass of chips that it couldn't flow em fast enough. 15 minutes of shaking and beating and we were off again.

Made a separate pile just for the poplars so that it was just chips, no stringy twigs or leaves. This is just 2 trees

This all started because the wife wanted some chips for her garden. Guess I went a little overboard...

But don't worry there's plenty of alternative uses for a big ol chip pile :D

I couldve brought you some wood chips and mulch if that's all you needed.

All star night was pretty good. Can't wait to do it again.

And just like that, turn and burn and we are beach bound. So much room in this Yukon

Those chips dont look deep enough to suppress the weeds. In my experience, it needs atleast 8", and that wont keep bermuda at bay.
