I hope those college kids enjoy these ~$350k anodized aluminum rails.
Likely as much as they appreciate this SAIL thingie and the glass and anodized panels here on this elevated walk

BTW, the windows the architect decided to use in the building (if you were to walk down those steps to the right and look left, that wall is the SOUTH exposure) were not Low E and were not initially tinted. On system startup (July) those exterior offices would not cool below 85
And somehow that was our fault![]()
Gotta love architects. We had a job in NY with a spiral stair with glass rails on a 3' radiusfor the inner stringer. Told them it wouldn't meet code due to tread being too narrow. They said "we will deal with that later". Now, it's an "architectural feature" because they could never make it meet code. Somehow we were at fault...BTW, the windows the architect decided to use in the building (if you were to walk down those steps to the right and look left, that wall is the SOUTH exposure) were not Low E and were not initially tinted. I'm not seeing an issue here. Why does the ME care about windows?
And they wonder why tuition keeps increasing...<SMDH>I hope those college kids enjoy these ~$350k anodized aluminum rails.![]()

Here's a good one for y'all....I asked the tire place (chain) to throw the 5 takeoffs in the back of the Jeep, as they are in great shape, just rough and noisy from wear, even though I've been rotating every 3k or so. Figured they'd be worth something to somebody, of I would at least put them out for city pickup, and save the disposal fee.
Anyway, this afternoon I finally unload my old tires. Except they aren't my old tires...some worn out goodriches with sidewall cracks that aren't even my rim size.
Called them up...manager was very accomodating....I bet he knew exactly what happened. He said he would either find my tires, or otherwise make it right. We'll see....

I have had nothing but positive service at discount tireWelp, went back to Discount Tire today. I told them it would be about a week before I could get back up there to pick up my old tires. They said no problem. Get there, guy says he has them sitting back for me. But they weren't where he put them the other day. A quick search, and no tires. To DT's credit, they asked what I was going to sell them for. I said a couple hundred. So he credits my card for $240....two hundred for the tires, plus forty for gas and my time. More than fair, I thought.

I need me some of that!
They are fun to scoot around in for training cause a bad ride is better than a good walk anyway but they’re cramped, have terrible blind spots, are WAY loud for a “tactical” vehicle, the tires on em are crap (no traction) and don’t have enough armor. We got em for a trip to Afg and lost 13 in 2 weeks to IED’s. They got us MRAPS and we still walked everywhere cause they just made bigger IED’s. I will never get in one again if I have a say in it. Bad memories of those things.
