Random Thoughts.....

All you need is 2 legs to be above average.

Because some people have 0 or 1, but none have 3, so the average is something less than 2.

If it was only a little closer to work. For that reason alone, I'm out.
I've considered relocating, so I wouldn't rule it out in that regard. But I really don't like the brick color, so for that reason, I'm out.

Why do people leave 1-2 car lengths between them and the car in front of them when stopped at a light?
Well, I can't speak for everyone, but, last time I attempted to close that gap between myself and the car in front of me leaving an intersection, I wound up in a situation where my $30 Amazon lightbar decided to go rabid and chew the bumper off of a Prius that the driver of which decided to slam on the brakes about 25' from the stop bar because of some imaginary bicyclist that nobody else in the surrounding lanes saw. Luckily it was in the middle of downtown Columbia right in front of the police station. And then I got a phone call from a rather disgruntled lizard with a British accent and a few less points on my driving record.
Best reason I have so far.

Because if you are stopped and a car rear ends you and you are pushed into the car in front of you are responsible for the damage...

I sometimes leave a car length or 2 between me and the vehicle in front of me if I'm in a sketchy area. That way if the person behind me thinks of getting out and try to rob me or something, I have enough room in front of me to pull out and drive away. Sounds kinda weird, but people are crazy these days.

That would be incorrect. In NC that is what is called the domino effect and the vehicle that started the collision is the one held responsible (at fault).

Certainly respect your opinion and experience , but….

Just two or three years ago my dad was stopped at a red light T the corner of bell haven and valley dale in charlotte right by coulwood tire and auto for those who know the area…
He was 3rd in line at the light there was a Honda Pilot in front of him and step mom was in her expedition in front of pilot. A charlotte Cats bus never slowed down for the light and hit him at an estimated 40mph, sending him into the pilot which plowed into stepmom ….

The way it was all wrote up was cat responsible for him he for the pilot and pilot for stepmom….pilot was uninsured and totaled…. So I’d love to know how this law works

This law must have changed over the years. I know a few people that were ticketed for being hit and pushed into another vehicle. Something like failure to leave proper space cushion.

My great aunt was involved in a domino effect accident like that once at a stop light. The guy who caused it was a Mexican and he just left his car there and ran lol. Probably didn't have any drivers license or insurance, or citizenship for that matter. Not sure who and all got tickets though.

That is bullshit. I'm pretty sure a bus would push most cars continuously if the bus driver never let off the gas. I guess you need to leave 1/4 mile gap?

Definitely a do on a motor bike. Always give yourself space and keep that sucker in gear.
Note to self teach this to my kiddo.....whom I'm severely jealous of with his new to him super moto.

Unless this has changed in the last couple years, thats entirely not true. I was rear ended into someone else on 40 in winston and my insurance had to cover the car in front of me, and the guy behind me got off scotch free by simply leaving.

Funny how they live streamed the Rittenhouse trial but won't the ghislaine maxwell trial...
If she knows a 10th of what is reported she’ll probably be clintonized.

Might be the case sometimes, but I think its more of a "I'm on my phone with my foot on the brake and if I happen to let it slip a little and move forward, I still have room not to hit the person in front of me" because it seems for the most part, the same people who leave 1-2 car lengths between them and the person in front of them while stopped, also have the slowest reaction time when that light turns green. Hard to see traffic moving when your face is buried in your phone.
