Random Thoughts.....

Shit, I wish I could afford sheetz food anymore. Only thing affordable is the gut bomb dogs. Everything else is restaurant priced and gas station quality now. I did have a sub from a 7/11 the other week that was pretty good for a cooler sandwich.
The 7/11 in union Grove has some dang good biscuits. I get some variety of biscuit for breakfast each morning omw to work.

I had never had anything from there till a few years ago. Friend wanted to get lunch at a Sheetz. Got a burger, fries and drink. It was like 12$! I can get a nice burger from a sit down restaurant for that!
A lot of times I have to grab lunch at the gas station on Ft Jackson. Base calls it a “shoppette”. A refrigerator sandwich, chips, drink, and a snicker bar is like $14 bucks. Hurts my feelings every time.

You're paying for the convenience od not having to leave base!

True, but if I had time to make it to the food court at the PX, I could eat decent food for the same price. The old shoppette is pricy, but gas is reasonable.
Is that PX open to anyone? Ours requires a service card. I can't use it.
At APG thats a big difference in cost. The non-subsidized private businesses pay a pretty hefty fee for operating on base. Its worth it to them to have the captive audince who have no other choice, but the prices still reflect the higher rental cost. Even the food trucks are expensive.

Years ago when the ordinance school was here we had an old school buffet style cafeteria. Was like $5 w/ a CAC for all you could eat, those in service it was $3.50 or something rediculously cheap. Then w/ BRAC they moved the school, made us almost all civ run and almost everything that was subsidized left.

You can eat there all day without ID as long as you can somehow get on base. Buying stuff in the px requires an ID, but it appears to be a free for all when they have family day for the basic trainees. I can 5 times and never get asked for ID, then they want to see it the next ten times. It’s random.

It’s because of taxes. The food court charges (no ID) the PX or shopette is tax free (ID required) doesn’t have to be .mil or retired unless it alcohol or tobacco. Civ contractor cards are labeled as to what they are allowed to by in AAFES ram establishments.

Let's help get this Five thousand bushels of corn sold today......

Yeee haw...

The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask

I fucking hate materialism, I fucking hate Commercialism, I fucking hate what we as a society have made the holidays into. And apparently that makes me the evil asshole who who says that we need to take the vast majority of privileged kids today down to the soup kitchen or the St. Judes, or wherever for a fucking reality check.

this was not brought on by my kids, but rather watching and listening to everyone in stores.

Don't go in stores.

I know I have mentioned this before on here but we got a Frenchton puppy a little over 4 months ago. He's almost 7 months old now. Daughter wanted a dog, wife wanted a dog, so I caved. I just cannot connect with this dog. He irritates the living chit out of me. I have tried, but it just doesn't look like its in the cards, but what can I do? My daughter loves him and looks forward to seeing him everyday after school. My wife actually does like him, not love, but like, but I know it would absolutely destroy my daughter if we got rid of him. So it looks like I am stuck with him for the next 10 years or so...or until he bites one of us, especially my daughter, then its bye bye birdie.

Welcome to parenthood. Sacrificing for the joy of your kids. Its what we do at times as men. We dont matter, they do.

That's exactly right and honestly, I need to hear that from time to time. Even though, the other weekend when we had a Christmas party and the dog was being boarded and it was the happiest and most calm I have been in a while.

I don't know why but the Bounty commercial REALLY bugs me I mean Really bugs me. Who wipes up a spill form the source towards where the liquid is going. I've never seen anyone do it this way. I mean stop it at the furthest point from the spill and wipe towards the source.
