Random Thoughts.....

How in the hell do you miss all the flashing red and blue lights, the cones, flares and safety vests and run into a friggin firetruck?!?! Same truck (2101, our primary tanker and second due) got hit again less than an hour later.... That idiot also hit the heavy tow(tour bus reported on fire) company service truck! Hint hint: a 3000 gallon tanker does not move when your compact car hits it. C'mon people.

texting? like the azzhole who almost sideswiped me on I40 yesterday?

I have no clue. SHP said no phone was found in drivers compartment, but I would not be surprised.

Any chance the bus was around mile marker 67-70 on 77? Thinking I saw it yesterday.

MM 66 SB. But the bus was cleared saturday night/early sunday morning (like 1-2 AM) to my knowledge.

Sorry, I meant on Saturday. Any word on what happened with the bus?

Call went out as a tour bus on fire. But apparently it never was on fire, just smoking and broken down. I was on my way back to Hamptonville from Statesville with family, so I didnt run it once it came out that it wasnt on fire. Our guys were just doing traffic control for the heavy tow company. I was driving buy and told my wife "that must be the tour bus call that went out, looks like 2101 and some Union Grove trucks. Whats that car d--- Oh $H!T! He hit 01!" That was the first one, which wasnt too bad. Guy got out on his own and noone was in the truck. I didnt have gear, so we kept trucking. The pics are of the second hit. This is a prime example of why we use blocker apparatus though! We got almost home and I saw the Yadkin County Rescue trucks rolling and 3 ambulances. Was pretty worried until we heard that noone was hurt.

I made a good living fixing trucks from just that sort of stuff.....one had a fence pole through the cab, another a man hit at 60mph and never let out on 321, some burnt, some rolled, and a few who hit each other. If a fire apparatus can be fubared I've seen it and fixed it.

In short nothing suprises me when dealing with motor vehicles, especially over loaded, under payed fire trucks and firemen.

Same here. We haven't had rain in weeks and the trees are going into survival mode and dropping all their leaves. And of course we are loosing the shade because of it.

We are fixing to put our old house on the market. Beautiful oak tree in the front yard. Was there today, and noticed all the leaves are wilted and browning. Nice tree, that will recover, but I bet the first offer we get will want "that dead tree" cut down as part of the deal.

Unsure if this is the right thread...
But this Redditter pretty much nailed it

Dear Keebler elves,
Would you design a quiet package for your tasty treats? It will make them much easier to enjoy at 1:30am.
Sincerely,
Guy with woke baby!

I always assumed that package was designed by a mom w/ 6 year old mischievous boys

Is social anxiety the reason for disassociation or the side effect of it?

If you've watched Reddit in the last decade, you can see the massive explosion of social anxiety expressed by it's member base. Which is MOSTLY composed of late teen/early 20 somethings with a few old farts mixed in (old fart raises hand)
I'm always amazed by the admission of it's members and how SO MANY seem to suffer from crippling anxiety. I can't help but think it's a vicious cycle of chicken/egg syndrome where you can't say effectively WHICH came first, but you CAN say one causes the other.

I agree with both and add that the social base has a lot to do with it. Looking for the words here....I don't fit the popular social people. I'm very agreeable, polite, and enjoy some company. Just not the large group antics portrayed by most.
Social media however is almost too perfect, and why it's addictive to all types. If I don't enjoy or like something it's a click and forgotten.....or worse some algorithm replaces it instantly with something more suitable.

Now we have the double edged sword and no one is challenged outside their personal comfort zone.

Edit: When I travel I become personally very accutely aware of how much I fall into this cycle. I don't blame it on my gadgets but they make it absurdedly easy to diassociate with all those strang folk. The general public sucks and makes me anxious in large numbers.

Excellent replies. If I had to put a phrase to go with it, it would be a "tug o war".
Dipping myself into closer relations with large masses of people makes me yearn for separation from that. Keeping the group around me smaller makes me want to be even closer to those familiar few.

This is exactly why I go camping....

Im sort of technologically impaired. But why can't somone make an app to unlock vehicle doors. It seems to me like a smart phone should be plenty capable of unlocking my truck. I wish everybody did like Ford and put a keypad on the door.

You mean like this?? I am assuming you own a Ford since you mentioned the keypad they have.......

FordPass™

Edit: I noticed you own a dodge truck, this might work....

Uconnect Access - Services and Apps

Some of our work trucks are fords. The only thing I like about them is the keypad. It might seem dumb to some people but working construction its nice to be able to lock everything (keys, wallet etc...) up while working and not have it stabbing you in the leg all day working in awkward positions.

My dodge is too old to have the uconnect radio.

Well optioned GMs come with it...
