Aight, just woke up, sucks you gotta work Dylan
Anyway, first off, this thing is the real deal guys, we spent a good bit of time, talking and I'll tell you every question/issue that came up from the forum or us was either already answered or we took care of. The rangers are all for it, and yes Debora Walker is onboard and all for it. We have a greenlight on pretty much everything, and got all the logistics worked out as far as camping/crowds/safetey/enviromental/removing broken rigs/bathrooms/etc/etc
Like Dylan said we got the classes worked out, if they havn't been updated on the American Wheeler website yet it will be done shortly, I'm pretty sure everyone will be happy, we took into consideration all the comments made here and shaped it around what we thought would benefit everyone.
As far as the pirate 4x4 concerns we have the proper procedure/channels we need to go throu to get it there, probably will be going through with that sometime next week, if you all don't mind try and not cross post over there till we get our initial post up.
Also keep an eye out in Peterson's and JP magazines for advertisements
As far as the race course itself we are gong to use Rocky Mountian Loop as the course, we don't have the exact stop/start points set in stone yet but we have a good idea planned out until we actually go over to prerun/setup the course, but like I said its pretty much Rocky mtn loop.
At the moment we are leaning towards two ways of running the actual race, we are either going to go with gps tracking on the rigs, or (and i forget there exact names) transponder things that trip when you drive by the check points kinda like garage door lazers.
On cost, the full amount will be due upfront when you sign up, refunds will be issued untill April 25th, at which point your out of luck, there were also some questions on prizes, the prize will be issued either at at least 50% cash and the rest may be possibly prizes for various brand names depending on sponsor donations, regardless you will get the full prize worth if not in the half cash half price mode it will progress all the way full cash if need be.
Camping is up to you folks, if your going you need to get your camping setup with uwharrie national forest just lik you always would so get on the ball with that so you get a spot. I'm sure one of the other will chime in with more camping details, but also the website has the detals for camping posted. The main festival area will be right down the raod from rocky mtn race and will have vendors, food, paintball, a rockgarden, and much more to keep everyone busy, also we will have hayrides or similar to take people from the festival area to the race course and back.
Guys once again this is the real deal, I'm sure there will be little hitches here and there to work out as we go but this def is gonna be awsome and will help to further our sport and promote uwharrie national forest orv program as well!
