Yeah I need to add a hoist. I have a detail somewhere
Meh, the standard blanket isn't that bad. It does eventually get brittle but you can't tell unless you poke holes in it. We have a warehouse that is 20yrs old and the insulation looks good except a few plaves where things have fallen into it. I don't feel like it harbors rodents any more than any other insulation type would. A bait box hidden around and that problem is solved. In our shop we put up metal panels 8ft tall to keep from puncturing the insulation.Since this thread went sideways weeks ago... Here's something that hasn't been covered (other than a few folks without any)... INSULATION!
I've read that the "blanket"/wrap/fiberglass with white vinyl insulation used in most steel buildings will at some point get hard/brittle, break down, and all fall down inside the vinyl... true?
Others say it's a haven for critters, can hold water (leak/condensation??), and generally turn to ?
That leaves sprayed foam (open/closed cell) which is still pretty steep $$$ and framing it all out and using standard 16"-24" glass... or framing it out from the get-go
Any other alternatives??
The vinyl stuff doesn't seem to bad. It's the bible wrap looking stuff that will fall apart, esp after you weld some in the building..
Bible wrap? Like that thin ass craft paper...?

What construction @Jody Treadway ?My shop is 25x60.
Conventional business park/warehouse space metal building. Steel beams, metal studs @ 24", drywall, insulation. 1 walk in, 1 12 x 16 roll up and a bathroom that resembles the primary background in the movie Saw.What construction @Jody Treadway ?

I send female customers to the business next door should nature call.
And a variety at that. PBR, Rolling Rock, Catawba Brewing White Zombie and diet cherry Sun Drop for the real bad asses.
There is good in the fridge though!
Idk, 2 maybe 3 inches? It's just the regular ol roll insulation they put on metal buildings. It's not what I'd want in my house but it does keep the temp moderated. The shop has the same insulation but no skylights and it holds temp much better than the warehouses. How thick is that 20 y/o blanket @awheelterd ?
