So some may call this starting shit.. but I would like a real answer to my questions.

I found this group and thought hey cool another group of like minded 4x4 folks close to me in Raleigh. Yes I am part of other 4x4 groups but who cares we can all hang out drink some beers and lie about our 4x4 right.

I recently saw they said they are now charging dues and going "legit" (I use the word lightly)

So I asked if part of there due goes to support Tread Lightly, Blue Ribbon Coalition, etc?

They answered not at this time and will go to local groups like toys for tots etc.. Ok Cool I also support them. then I asked where do they wheel and they stated URE and some local stuff with the hopes of going to Harlan, and other farther away places.. Well sweet I go to those places minus the local illegal places.. So I asked why do you continue to wheel Illegally if you know it is illegal and BAM I am now BANNED from there page. and here was there response: " Raleigh Area Wheelers :Yes Ken we understand legal and illegal wheeling. "

So I know a few of them have got to be on NC4x4 so what is the deal.. Why would you get pissed if I ask a simple question? why would you continue to wheel illegally if you know it can hurt the appearance of the 4x4 sport in general? A lot of folks fight very hard to keep public land and other places open so we can all enjoy wheeling, why would you want to hurt that?

I say good for you for challenging their questionable (illegal) wheeling activity. Its guys like this that ruin it for the rest of us.

Several other pictures, including some tag numbers visible. Trouble is a brewing.

I left another group for this same reason. They evidently liked a particular spot behind a local walmart or something, even going as far as to posting pics of all the mud they had splattered all over the road. Good for you on calling them out!

all the newer JKs in that picture says a mouthful. buncha newbs that paid someone to lift their mall crawlers and now just want to run through mud holes close to home. they have no idea of the underlying culture of responsible offroaders, not that would care if they did tho.

I don't recognize any of those rigs, this is not the way to represent the wheeling community at all. If you are part of said group you need to check yourselves and each other, take a step back and find your correct path.

Id have to say it doesn't mean crap what kind of rig it is, Usually situations like this happen because there isn't a foundation of wheeling ethics at the base of the group. then anyone fresh to the group or sport does not get any education on responsible land use.

I came across their FB page yesterday, after Ken's question was deleted. I asked a similar question, asking where they ride, to which there was no reply. I saw another post referencing them wheeling at TW... I can only assume this is the illegal powerlines and trails off TW Alexander.

Charging people for a t-shirt and riding illegal trails doesn't make them a legitimate organization, it makes them part of the problem. Even if they donate a few dollars to a charity. Toys for tots isn't going to fight for our land access or improve the reputation WE ALL get for THEIR trespassing and destroying property.

Apparently, they have had an education. They claim to understand the difference between legal and illegal wheeling, but have no intention of doing the right thing... splashing mud on their jeeps is just too exhilarating.

I hope they see this.

Last Night
I just heard about this club today. I'm a member of a few other 4x4 organizations and clubs. Do you all have a calendar of events? Where do you guys ride? I'm interested in organizations that go on great trips and give back to the 4x4 community.

Tonight:
Since I didn't get any replies, I did a search about RAW on NC4x4. Thought some of you might be interested in this... Choose to be a part of the solution.

POSTED A LINK TO THIS THREAD.

Last I heard of a group heading over to Page Rd, the Police came and closed that place up tighter than a camel's ass in a sandstorm. If I remember that story right, lots of fines got handed down that day.....

A lot of those guys are on a long thread on wrangler forum constantly posting about illegal wheeling I joined the fb page and left it very quick after what I saw in many post.

People still wheel page very often from those groups

Here is what I just posted on their Facebook Page. Wonder how they will respond.....

As an avid off-roader of 18 years I always enjoy meeting new people that are into the 4x4 sport as well. I feel it is my duty to make sure that others are enjoying our sport to its betterment and not its detriment. As your club goes 'legit' - I ask that you visit a thread on the legal places to go wheeling-
http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.ph...-complete-list-of-legal-wheeling-places.6882/
We have enough organizations that try to take away our rights to go wheeling. We do not need to give them any more ammunition. All off-roaders need to work together to keep this sport alive for many years to come.

I am not the only one that wants to see your organization go down the right path-
http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.ph...-is-part-or-raw-raleigh-area-wheelers.146820/

I am a member of the CNC 4x4 Club. Our organization has been operation for over 15 years. Please make the right decisions for your organization so it can be around for many years to come. We have our Quarterly meeting coming up on Jan 11 if you want to talk on ways to support the off-road community.

I think it is great to find another group that is interested in using their 4x4 for what it was built for. Please do what you can to support keeping our rights to enjoy the sport.

I hate when people say " oh he's in a jk, he's just another yuppie". I'm 21 years old and own a jk, which I'm building myself. It's my DD and weekend wheeler. I understand that it is our responsibility as a community to preserve our right to off roading. I DO NOT wheel in illegal places, I want to keep areas open for future generations. These "clubs" give us all a bad name. It's just sad. I do agree that this group is a bunch of "city folk" who throw mud on their jeeps and go " yeah bro, I done some hardcore wheeling this weekend". Thanks for your time.

Hi, My name is Justin and I am an Administrator for Raleigh Area Wheelers. I appreciate any input that our fellow enthusiast have on improving our organization, but I must say that a few comments that I have read seem to be going about it in the wrong way. We do not condone illegal wheeling, yes a few of our members have posted trips/meets to spots that they do not have permission to be on. From this point on we are not allowing our members to ride at those locations under the Raleigh Area Wheelers name. If they do illegal wheeling its there choice, we R.A.W., will not be there. NC4X4 has many club members, I sure quite a few do some illegal wheeling. Like I told Steve via Facebook message, everyone starts somewhere. We have all done illegal wheeling at some point, we just didn't buy a jeep and go to Uwharrie.

Like I said, we as a group will take any feedback to keep our organization in a straight line. I'm sure NC4X4 has had some issue when first starting, all we ask is to be understanding that we are just starting out. I myself have been building cars/4wds and racing/wheeling for 10+yrs. There are plenty of members that have more experience than me in both areas.

Thanks for your time. " Most of us are not the stereotyped "city folk", just like most people in this area, we came for jobs and to start a family that would better schooling an opportunity. We are not the type to say "hardcore wheeling", we go and wheel to have fun and to test our builds. Mud is not in my top favs for wheeling by any-means, but there isn't much else in the off season.

Thanks again guys,

Justin M.

Why have raw Facebook admins as recently as this week posted about running page road then? Sounds like some cleanup is needed

That posting was before the conversations with NC4X4 members. We began to think about the risks that would be involved with these trips. The trip to that location has been cancelled. After our conversations, RAW decided it was best not to allow meets at those areas, we will just have to drive a little further to allowable areas.

This the same group that spray painted a rock at URE?

No one from our group have ever done anything to vandalize any wheeling locations especially uwharrie. These are the kinds of comments that would hurt us as an organization.
