The Never Tight TJ Build

Scored a driveshaft center support bearing yesterday. Ultimately not the style I wanted but it'll do for awhile (read as likely permanent). Saves me quite a bit over a new one and being 32 spline allows me to step up to 1350 or 1410 when there's more horsepressures.

Exactly what style were you hoping for?

The kind like BKOR or WDO sells. No real reason for the preference other than it removes a u-joint and yoke.

I see, never mind then. I have one that I bought with my rear driveshaft setup on my S10. It’s pretty nice, but not what you’re looking for either. Still on the fence about whether I can repurpose it on my buggy.

I believe this setup will allow you more flexibility in the chassis, and eliminating vibes.

Which one? I remember hearing that one effectively cancels vibration but no clue where that was.

The one you purchased. It really depends on the axle, but most fronts arent pointed straight at the center bearing. Either way, this setup allows you to isolate the 2 driveshafts from each other. If a u-joint has any angle offset, you need a 2nd ujoint to cancel that vibration. Either one can have vibrations, if not using the correct setup.

More parts collection posts. Picked up my Racelines, thanks @Bebop and @josh$$

Little man loves them. Going to replace all the bolts and clean and polish the rings up. Can't decide if I'm going to leave the wheels alone, paint them, or powder coat them. Need to decide soon as I'll have the tires here too and it'll be much easier to store them mounted.

This thing in hover mode right now?

Na about to slap some used reds, fenders and weld the front lunchbox and sell it whole. Decided it made more sense to just buy a chassis and start clean slate. I don't see my wheeling style changing any time soon so buggy it is. Just started to make more sense to me rather than cutting the ever living crap out of mine and in the end it'd still be a TJ. Starting with a chassis eliminates all the cage and tube fab I'd have to do and makes it where I could get a chassis in a roller status in a weekend. I've got the tons, stickies, and beadlocks so I'm only missing like 15-20k worth of parts  Probably more but we're gonna be ballin on a budget as much as possible, hoping to get my son involved a little bit in the build too as there will be plenty of small things he can do. Though a toddlers attention span is extremely short.

Looking at Rock Lizard but plan to go talk with @mcutler about one first, just need to find my way up to his shop.

Really digging the lines on the Chameleon chassis.

Famous last words !

Good luck, buggies are worth it.

Who ever thought running a shop and working full time was a good idea should be shot. My junk is neglected worse than a red headed step child. However I did manage to schedule some down time in my shop and finally got the front end tore apart. Upon inspection of the broken lock rite that was welded and then broken again we decided to pull the shafts 🤦🏽‍♂️ @adamk and @Joe J. Helped get this thing tore down as my motivation to work on my own stuff here lately has been, well non-existent.

Cross pin was sheared in two places, pinion may have chewed on it just a bit, she's gonna get sent since it's minimal damage.

The rcv splines at the bell on both side are almost stripped, they're knife edge spline right now. Hopefully they warranty them but I'm not counting on it. Really don't want to put them back in as they are a complete pain in the dick to install and remove.

Also got the fuel pump pull, literally came out in 4 pieces. Gotta fix so it doesn't do it again hopefully, this will make pump number 3. No pics because I'm an idiot 🤷🏽‍♂️
