Perhaps he made a mistake over the phone, I don't think he would just change the rules, I don't know, the rules have alway stated rear traction control devices are ok ever since we as the Race committee sat down and drew them up, and until now myself and the others have defined rear traction control as factory type devices, like I said lets give Sean time to get back from Uwharrie I'm sure he'll get it cleared up.

But as a side point I was manning the American Wheeler booth at El Dorado almost all day today and told several people that only factory type options were allowed in A class no aftermarket lockers, that puts you in B class.

Waht is the distance of the race "track" from start to finish? Feet. meters, miles. furlongs, whatever.

Bueller....Bueller.....Ferris Bueller
ha...I get it! lol We will get the definative answer on this Monday...
here is what i suspect will happen.

Racers in stock class will be allowed any traction adding device..factory or not this includes lockers. The reasoning for this is simple. It is a logistical nightmare to check and inspect all rear axles. What came with what, is that welded or factory, bla...bla..

Dont quote me on this though. We will have an answer soon.

I tried measuring exact distance this weekend. I came to the conclusion that the course was
7.50 miles long and i only made it to kodak rock from the starting line, due to traffic.

So here is a riddle for ya!

The map says the trail is around 2.something miles long.
I only drove around half the trail.
Mileage was at 7.50 miles on the trip meter
How could that be?

so, is the course going to end at kodak, or continue back to starting point. It makes more sense to have it end where it begins for timing and organizaional purposes.

7.5 miles on a 3 mile trail......tirespin tirespin tirespin.....haha

Dylan it was nice to meet you saturday out there, good to put a face with the name, just wanted to make sure you knew I was the guy riding in the white and blue suburban, i talked to you both at the meeting and on Daniel, you guys had to pull over to let us back through....

Ill call you tomorrow, ive got a few questions, what time is good for you?

It was nice to meet you too.And yes...tire spin was the problem with measuringlol..Gotta do it on a dry day.
Any time is good to call.
The racecourse will begin at parking lot and end at the rd. They are just a small distance apart. We will not cross the rd. with the race, so the entire RCKY MT. loop will not be utilized.
Only the larger part.

HEY

HEY Dylan, Ricky, Sean, Nick & Liz, & Matt?
Nice to meet all of y'all out there yesterday.

Rocky Mountain is something else when it is wet!

Dylan, you get your rig back yet from those coppers?!!?!

In the famous words of Arnold, I'll be back and next time with some new Mudders!

So this is getting fun:shaking:

SO what is the purpose of having an A and B class now?

Is A class going to be a 33" and under class?

Is B class going to be 33" to 35" class?

:driver:

I would say to go by what the web-site says. Looks like the gray areas will be outlined by tire size and the few other rules thats posted.

Good to meet you Lorenzo. And yes, the ''rock taxi'' rolls again.

I also enjoyed talking to you. You did well answering some of our questions and being professional. On that note, I think Sean owes Janet (the camp hostess) an apology and also needs to think about his actions when he's promoting. If you could pass that on.

I ran into "Herbie" and informed him that I'd be beating him  I can't wait for the races to begin.

so what is the definate answer on whether or not a locker is ok in the rear axle. Thanks again:driver:

I'd wait till Sean posts up with an answer, but Dylans right IDK how we'd go about inspecting peoples rear axles . . . .

But yea follow what the website says first to stay safe, then if you hear otherwise go for it.

Yea man, I'm sure we'll run into each other again soon :driver:

Guys, inspecting for traction devices is very simple.
Just have 2 jacks handy. Lift the rear off the ground so both tires are off. Spin one. If (A) it won't spin by hand or (B) the otehr one doesn ot spin the opposite direction, then tehre is a tractio ndevice installed. End of story.

I'm sorry but thsi is a VERY lax definition of the word "stock", and reall ydoes defeat the point of defining the lower classes. Huge differnce between having lockers and not... and only small diff betwnee 33s and 35s, which is now teh only diference between A and B class.
THMHO.
I can guarantee you this, if teh ifnal word, is, locked OK, then I'm welding my rear end.

I haven't registered yet, but plan to this week. I have an event I must attend on Sat afternoon during the event. Can my codriver/spotter take my place driving and use someone else to spot while I'm not there?

Yeah these rule changes are kinda :shaking:

And just jack the rig up like was stated real quick spin of tires and looking for wires or airlines.

I started out in A class but was bumped up to B class only because my rear was welded,I didn't complain.

I just paid up,and planned on competing with front/rear locked rigs with lo-tcase gears etc. bigger motors etc..........in my lowered IFS rig..............oh and beating them:flipoff2:

If we are going to start argueing over all the rules, then I think the B class tire sixe should be 33-36" tires, only b/c almst everyone ive met that is running in that class, is already running 36's. I already have a set of 35's to use for the race, but it would save trouble of swapping out for everyone.....

just my .02, but that doesnt make it right

So basically there is no "Stock" class anymore? Stock should be just that, stock. Maybe a small lift and a little larger tire. Everyone who signed up in stock class expecting to compete with similar capable rigs now has to compete with locked rigs, not quite fair to those who have already entered. Large diff between an open/lsd rig and a locked rig. Maybe we should just get rid of stock class all together and just make 2 classes... with factory body and without, or just one class and have a free for all to the finish line. With all the changes in the rules from day to day, I know of a number of entraints who are getting ready to bail on this whole 4x4cross thing...

I agree, stock class should be no lockers, defeats the point of stock, but if they are in, I'm firin up the lincoln, so do we have a definate answer yet ?

I agree that stock should be stock, I was a little upset when some "modified" rigs were able to sign up in my category because I felt they were much more built than mine. I'm staying in my category because I don't feel it's fair for me to race in stock but I felt the original set up for criteria was much more fair than it is now.

I agree stock should be stock.........
In my view (.02) The rules about traction control, refer to what comes stock nowadays, some stock vehicles w/abs brake/traction control are way cool, like the mitsu montero.
As for the rest:
Stock should be stock
no lockers
no lower tc gears or axle gears etc.
No motor swaps
just stock,if it was ifs, then it stays ifs.
and swapping between years is fine,it's still a stock setup(IE:for the sammi guys w/FI)
if you can put 33"s on it go for it,but leave the stock fenders on it hackingup fenders is fine it's your stock truck
We need to maintain the stock class as stock this is very important in keeping with the whole Idea of this event.
