Student @ NCSU majoring in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Mgt. Hope to be a backwoods ranger in a National Park one day (not a tour guide). :cool:

Oh yeah, and if I can ever find time when I am not doing tourism research, etc. I like to weld, wheel, and work on the jeep. Or at least that is what I remember I liked to do, I don't know, it has been so long.

I forgot to mention, after the army I worked in several factories in Trenton, NJ, so I do know a little something about working metal, too. I just don't have any of that kind of tools myself.

I work at a small family owned automotive machine shop. We do it all, from mild to wild. I have seen 500hp Hondas, and 800+bigblocks. Mostly stock work though. I mostly do head work, but have been involved in all of it from clean up to loading it up for the cutomer. We do a lot of the dealership work for all the local dealers. We do lath and bridgeport work as well. As I said small, 2 of us sometime 3, but not much work ever turned down. Great guy to work for and I AM treated like one of the family. He drag races, and I crawl, and he understands work is second to family. Also very understanding when I need time off for wheeling, but I don't leave him in a bind.

On my off time, I weld whatever, fab some, and help out friends. I am a one of only 3 Ready Welder dealers in NC and piddle in buying and resale of many things. Dad to three, and a G-paw to boot.

What kind of equipment do you have? I've got a 351w block that's got a main girdle going on it. How much to check the main bores for roundness and have them align honed if needed?

Bring it on down on the back of a pick-up and I can check it for you. If it does need fixed we can let you know. It all depends on what all it'll need. We don't do that there, we take it to a shop in Charlotte. We can, but it takes so much time to change the hone machine over to line bore, it's just not worth it. Guess i'm another oddball here and a newb that lives across the border here in JC Tennessee. Just graduated from medical school and am an intern at the VA medical center ( and at Bristol regional med center, Holston valley, and JCMC) in internal medicine. I love rehabilitation medicine and will be starting my Physical medicine and Rehabilitation residency next June. So for right now if you are having chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, intractable diarrhea, constipation just come on down.

Had my share of other jobs though... concrete construction 2years, house construction 1year, custom home theater fabrication 1year, organ/tissue donation "recovery technician". So I get to do some side work usually in home theater installs and setup when time permits.
 
I am a contractor with 6 employees and we do it all! From the ground up start to finish,industrial commercial or residential. In our spare time we go to willow springs mud bog build trail rigs and sell firewood and occasionally we do a little fishing and hunting.I am a jeep man preferably commandos I have a mud bogger and my very sexy wife has a rock crawler both are 72 bullnose commandos. His and hers if you will, how many of you guys are that lucky????????????? and we're always looking for new friends.I met a fellow last month at the mud bog,and he goes by the name of stud nuts on here,I just wanted to let you know that you can borrow my helmet any time, and you did an awsome job building that buggy!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I go to school at FVHS (Senior) and work at Awesome Awnings in Cary full time (until next week anyway), installing and upholstering, just so I can get home and fix whatever's broken on my 89 XJ on that particular day. It's got a 3" Rusty's full leaf kit, and I'm getting some 31" Retreads in the mail. Small potatoes to you guys I'm sure, but you gotta start somewhere.
 
"Systems Analyst" for a pharma/R&D company in W-S... translates to I'm responsible for a few $100k worth of computer & infrastructure equipment that holds a few $100M worth of data & I.P. ... and try to keep 75 PhD, PharmD, & MD types (why does their common sense decrease in proportion to the letters after their names :confused: ) from @#$%ing it up and putting us all in the soup line! Like Rich & Joel, imposing doom & restriction on others... while surfing the web/streaming on a 1GB fiber connection! :D

Former US Marine (Heavy Vehicle Operator/Combat Engr.)... that's MR. jarhead for you squids :flipoff2: , worked in my pappy's small engine shop, high-pressure pumps & control wiring, and ran a 5 cretan...uh, "person" crew maintaining a paper conversion plant prior to the computer gig. Tore my first Tecumseh sideshaft down at 9, learned to oxy-acetylene at 13, and have been tinkering ever since. Have been married for 16 years (NON-"JeepChick"), with an 11 y/o son that loves to wheel (as long as it's not too hot/cold, dry, & his Gameboy's charged :rolleyes: )...
 
I started out working at several fast food restaurants when I was young (as Wayne said, "Let's just say I had an extensive collection of name tags and hair nets.")

I graduated to Wal-Mart as a stockman for a couple of years. Once I ran out of money for college, I joined the USAF and spent 10 1/2 years doing bomb loading and weather forecasting.

After the Air Force, I sold insurance for a while, sold TVs at circuit city for a while, then built and sold computers at a crappy little computer shop. Now I do tech support for a "small" software company that nobody seems to like (except when they find out I can get software at a discount).

I've been a husband for 14 years now and a dad for 12 and 13 years. I'm also one of the fortunate ones whose family likes the trails as much as I do, so life is good. That being said, I'm always looking for that elusive job that will pay the bills and make me happy to go to work every day.
 
BMW mechanic, i do most everything at the shop, clean the floors to tearing down motors. its a fairly small private shop, but we are usually booked out a month in advance
 
Regional Manager for Monro Muffler Brakes @ Service. I pretty much have the final word for all the stores in North Carolina and I too am always on call.

Oh yeah, in my spare time I wrench on my half-jeep and dream about wheeling again.......soon.........hopefully!!!
 
i work in a hardware store... last real hardware store in durham... dad owns it so i am kinda drifted into it. i can tell you anything you need to know about bolts and such :)
 
I work for Mt. Olive pickle Co. as a production supervisor for 5 yrs now. I've been at the company for over 9 yrs. before this company, I worked for Cates Pickle Co. who later changed their name to Dean Pickle and Specialty Prod. due to a buy out by Deans; this co is located in Faison, NC.
 
I'm a computer tech. I don't do many big servers and such. I mostly work on the average PC's like the one you are using now. It's a job. It doesn't pay worth crap, so I part out old ford trucks for the axles and such on the side. I build my own stuff and have a garage that's as good as some professional mechanics.

I've been working for the same utility construction company since 1985.Small business yet more personable. Mustanged my way up from laborer to foreman.Waiting on my chance to become superintendant.
Besides wheeling/wrenching my 50 Willys,I'm also a civil war reenactor for 11 years,swing a metal detector for anything old for 10 years,fishin and just livin life as best I can.
 
I went to school at CPCC in the GM ASEP program where I graduated top of my class and recieved the MR.Goodwrench award. I then worked for 6 yrs in the dealer on Chevy, Cadillac, and Pontiacs. After tiring of the flat rate game I gave up the dealer for short employment at a small Diesel shop. Now, I'm a Industial Maitenance Journeyman Mechanic at class 8 truck manufacturing plant. I'm a member of the UAW. I weld, fabricate, preform machine work, and basically do what I can to keep the plant building trucks.

For hobbies I enjoy R/C cars and planes. I tinker on my old Bonco and piddle on a few other things for friends. All when I'm not coach my sons' Little League teams. It's not glamorous, but hey, someone has to do it...
 
For all you beer drinkers ........

:beer: I install remote draft beer systems (Perlick) for restaurants, country clubs, etc.. Installing new systems is fun but working on older systems can be...... not so fun. :beer:
 
Software engineer looking for a Java programming position in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Just upgraded houses, been married for 3 years. The CJ is awaiting time and attention to fix the stereo, and some general electrical issues. I'm learning welding, but have been focusing on the job search.
