What have you done to your rig today?

The original guy is gone. The new folks don't have anything in stock, at least they didn't when I went by looking big truck batteries last year.

Yeah their selection isn't what it used to be, but the way I read your post I thought you meant they quit doing seconds.

I resurfaced my rear tires on the way to work today....with the pavement :D I swear, a new set of colder plugs and a fresh fuel filter made this truck do things it has never done before. I goosed it leaving a stop sign and before I knew it, I was sideways and smoking both rear tires. It revs so fast and the torque hits immediately. 37s and 4.10s are not exactly an ideal setup, but holy balls....it will flat out get down!

And here I am thinking about getting a bigger cam spec'd out for it and have 4.56s waiting to go in it one day! :driver:

Went to tinker on the 62 today, and boy had I forgotten just what a shit show this wiring was

Cruised Around in the snow. A stretched CJ on locked full width is a bit of an adventure on snow covered back roads. But hey the 4wd light still works and dats cool ...

Used it to clean up the field behind the house. Had one dead tree fall and went ahead and cut two more. Then set them on fire and sent @jeepinmatt a picture!

Note the pimpin' beverage containment device and my HD sitting in the background...waiting on a transmission.

Did pretty good too. Added 5 gallons of my favorite juiced up dinosaurs and it burned all night. Not much left now!

I need to hit up one of these companies working on the Hwy 70/I42 project and the Havelock bypass to see if they need a free place to get rid of any dirt.

I suppose with a big enough check, everything could be for sale :D

Cashier's, yes. Personal, once it clears. :D

Ever since i flipped my 300 I've regretted putting the vent line in my billet cover i made. It would sling oil in it and the pressure would cause it to push out the vent. After a few years of dealing with that shit, i finally had the gumption to pull it back out. Pulled the rear output housing of to put a vent back on the top. Now it's ready to go back in this evening.

Drove my 99 over to a buddy's house to fix the AC. Changed the high side fitting to a Dorman 800-955 with a Schrader valve. The rubber sealing balls ALWAYS leak. Anything GM with AC gets one any time I mess with anything in the AC system.

Changed out the wheels and tires on the Jeep today after getting the drivetrain installed….decided to try spacers for the rear as the 16.5” rim didn’t fit over the drum on the D70. The end result is a stupid wide set up lol, oh and some dry rot 37’s which is super unfortunate

U Joint replacement on the daily driver. Rear shaft was easy once I figured out what I'm doing. Fuck the front shaft. Can't get the U joint out to save my life. Guess I'll be seeking some help somewhere tomorrow. This should not have been an all day job.

Does the front shaft have clips or is it like a lot of GM stuff and you see a little plastic nub sitcking out? If so, those require heat. Then the plastic polymer expands like one of those ash snake fireworks things and you replace it with a u joint that generally will have internal clips.

I got home from work the other night and had the notion to get my old S10 back on the road. It's been sitting for a few years, but I knew the old Iron Duke would fire up. So, ran over to the shop and while rebuilding/cleaning the carburetor on my lawnmower, I put a battery on charge to drop in the Super 10. Got back to the house and tried to fire it up. Just as I suspected, the fuel pump was dead....not surprised. Pulled the bed off and slid it back and the tank is getting tossed as well. It has a 13 gallon tank, but all the replacements are a 20 gallon which conveniently uses the same straps as the 13 gallon. It's just longer in the front and goes up under the cab a little bit. I'd rather have the bigger tank anyway.

Going to order a new fuel pump assembly, 20 gallon tank, shocks, brakes, brake hoses, fix the busted brake line to the rear, all the front end wear parts, I have a new water pump for it in the shop, thermostat, belts, hoses, fuel filter, plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor button, change the oil, drain/fill transmission/rear end, and rob some parts off my dad's old S10 that's sitting behind the shop at his house. Definitely the inner fender liners, the toolbox, maybe the mirrors, definitely the grille (mine is an 85, the other is a 93), and I'm going to see if the radiators will swap over. I may even keep the 93's rear axle. I haven't quite decided yet. I added up ALL of the parts I could possibly think of and I'll be less than 1000 bucks in it. Then I'll rob the rims from the other truck and probably put mine in their place so I can drag the 93 on a trailer to scrap it at some point. I'm thinking I'll get a set of 225/70-14 (stock is 205/75-14) Mastercraft Avenger GTs with the raised white letters to go on the rims from the 93. They're steel, but painted black with 5 "house" shaped holes that are outlined in a 3/8 wide gray stripe, black center caps with the gold bowtie, and then stainless beauty rings. They really tie the room together and look good with a white letter tire on a red truck. Mine used to be red...I guess it still kinda is :D

Anyway, that's the plan. I'll eventually get the bench seat recovered, put some new speakers in it, and probably opt for a better radio. Perhaps even one that's XM capable since I already have it in my HD anyway. I figure I might as well drive it back and forth to work. It gets mid to high 20s for MPG and is kinda fun to drive. It's like a little go kart. If that motor ever lets go, I'll find some sort of little diesel to swap in it, I think. Something that gets STUPID good mileage, but it still have to have a turbo so it has a decent amount of power. it's a regular cab, long bed, 2wd truck. Probably weighs just under 3000 lbs, so 200-250 hp would be plenty.

I may even get fancy and clean the frame up so I can shoot it with some Rustoleum universal gloss/flat black. Who knows? It's cheap, low, easy to work on, and doesn't require an inspection anymore.

Here's the Super 10 in all its radiant glory :D

The first two pictures were back in 2012 when I was still driving it some. The one with the bed off was two nights ago and that's where it's been sitting for several years. I gotta say, it's probably the most reliable POS I've ever had.

I couldn't see any clips either internal or external. The rear had external clips that were pretty easy. I applied copious amounts of heat but still nothing. Truck is going to the dealership today to get the broken header bolts replaced. I'm hoping they won't charge an arm and a leg just to remove the U joint. They quoted $515 per axle for the whole job of U joint replacement. If they want something ridiculous for it, I'll find a shop that can do it more reasonably. I've exceeded my abilities and patience at this point.

Buddy of mine in high school had the shorter bed version of the exact same truck with the exact same color and I swear it was that faded in 2001.
