What have you done to your rig today?

Removed, what I hope to be the last broken c-clip axle I ever remove.

Front brake shoes on the tow rig. Got 139k miles out of the factory ones. And fuel filters. Still no go fast parts though

Slow going on the Turtle Diesel. Got my new battery cables in and started to install them but got pulled away, I'm so close to having this truck running and driving again I can taste it.

Dodge LA motor at 371ci
10.8:1 compression
Worked over stock heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
MSD 6AL box and pro billet distributor
Mopar Purple cam
.484/.484, 241/241, on a 108 LSA
Holley 670 Truck Avenger carb with vacuum secondaries

This morning (and all times prior) it was a pain in the ass to start. It was running rich, base timing was off, total timing was wrong, the timing curve was wrong, the plugs weren't gapped right, and you'd have to pump the throttle to basically dump raw fuel in it so it'd fire off. As you'd imagine...the exhaust would make your eyes water!

Fast forward to today....we installed new header bolts and put studs in the front/rear. Still need to work on the passenger's side header flange. You can definitely still hear the leak.

I pulled the distributor, added an 18° advance bushing, and went with heavy silver/light blue springs to bring total timing full in by 3200ish RPM. Base timing is around 18° as well, for a total of 36°. Pulled the plugs and gapped them to .050". They were between .032 and .040. New NGK, heat range 5, plugs are ready to be installed soon. The Champions gotta go. I don't even use those in my lawnmower!

Next, I tinkered with the carb after replacing a split fuel hose on the suction side of the Holley mechanical fuel pump. Got it idling and checked/set:
- float levels
- verified jets
- verified power valves
- verified secondary spring
- set idle mixture screws
- set idle speed again

I said all that to say this: it's a completely different truck now. You've got to understand your setup and dial it in accordingly! No more pumping the gas. Hit the key and it fires right up. The intake valve opens 12.5° BTDC and the cam has 25° of overlap. Base timing at 10 degrees was basically pointless (pun intended). It runs a helluva lot better and, surprisingly, the exhaust isn't overwhelming at all. I even managed to get 15" of vacuum at idle. I think we started around 7 or so.

It has noooo hesitation about breaking those 38s loose on the pavement 👌

Also, peep that sweet ass Warn Classic bumper that I got from @Clubbs !

I remember the day @Croatan_Kid bought that stock motor from me too. I was trying to sell a Mopar 440, but Noooo... He had to have a 360 and the only one I had was in my ramcharger. So out came the 360 and the ramcharger got one of the 440's tons and 42's. Never really finished it though and it's still sitting to this day. It's all Jake's fault come to think of it 😜

Not my fault...definitely my buddy's fault! :D

The never before seen factory CJ fuel gauge functioning with an RCI 15 gallon fuel cell... Pic taken right when I filled up. At first I thought it wasn't functioning in the shop because it said the tank was empty, slid into the gas station with a little sloshing around in there. Custom ordered a KUS sender. Let me know if anyone else needs one and I'll get you the specs.

Must be some low hours. Mine never look that straight. My Yamaha 115 currently needs a trim motor and impeller (pee stream is weak).
It's a 2003 G3 1860 w F90 I bought in from a "friend" 2006. I never looked at the bolts that hold the lower unit till today. Looking at the paint on the bolts said it had been removed so i'm thinking a pump was replaced before I bought it. I put a Tiny Tack on it about 10 yrs. ago. It works but shows 1/2 of the rpm , it shows 23 hrs. today. I'm thinking it's got about 50 hours on the motor.

Wrapped up the cables for the 6.5L; need to replace the charge wires on my 454 so I can put the Odyssey in that truck and get the DieHard back on the crew. Also scored a über rare Z71 brush guard at LKQ yesterday, so I spent a chunk of today cleaning and touching it up so I can get it installed.
