Who drinks their coffee black?

I don't touch anything that comes from the store, or from Starbucks. It's stale from sitting on the shelf and the distribution chain waaaay too long. Not worth buying or drinking. Also usually way over roasted, especially Starbucks beans.
.
So do you sit in the park wearing skinny jeans, flannel shirt, a beret with a waxed mustache listening to a crank record player while typing on a manual typewriter as you sip that coffee?

I've seen what you post about bourbon. Doesn't seem any different, yet I'm a hipster for being discerning about simple coffee? ;)

Hey hey hey...leave the bourbon out of it. Dahell did it ever do to you. You can’t see me right now, but I’m hugging a bottle of Rhetoric 23, telling it you didn’t mean it.

That explains a lot about me. :smokin:

I've been drinking coffee black for as long as I can remember. Only on the incredibly rare occasion will I doll it up with something. I've been known to take a cup back to the counter at the local Dunkin' when they do their usual pound of sugar and gallon of cream for a cup of coffee. "I ordered black coffee..."

"...black?" is usually the bewildered response, as if it's some far-fetched foreign concept.

"...yeah. Coffee. In a cup. nothing else."

I typically like the dark roasts (Columbian, Sumatran, etc.). They seem to have much more flavor.

Is coffee one of those things you have to learn to like or have y'all liked it from the first taste?
Definitely from the first taste. My first taste of coffee quite honestly was not what one would expect.

Many, many years ago (back when Christ was a Corporal), I was trying to survive the Crucible at MCRD San Diego (well, we were up at Pendleton - yeah, I was Hollywood. So what? :smokin:) and much like everyone else in my platoon, I looked like one of the cast members of "The Walking Dead." Digging through the shreds of what remained of the MRE to be shared between myself and my battle buddy, there in the pack of napkins and the two-pack of Chicklets was a pouch of Folgers instant coffee. Well, all who have been there know there is no time to boil water, much less mix anything in a cup. So I tore off the top of the pouch and emptied the contents straight to the pie hole. My first reaction was "oh, good gawd….this is AMAZING!"

I've been hooked since. But in the liquid form - I don't eat straight coffee grounds anymore.
Good coffee is really smooth and very easy to drink black. If you don't like black coffee, get better coffee.
Troof!

yeah but that stuff tastes like shit.

Curious... how do you know what shit tastes like? I wouldn't expect it to taste like coffee based on how it smells.

Right on.

Black coffee vs coffee with 'stuff'...coffee vs tea...hipsters vs manly men...this thread has some haymakers rivaling cops shooting civilian threads before black lives mattered.

I have definitely lipped up a pack of instant from a Brown Bag Special!!

Do I have a yellow star? Edit: Yes, yes I do.

American Black Coffee Company

This is still a work in progress. But we roast weekly and are shipping daily.

My partner (the roastmaster) in this sells $16-18 bags of coffee through his other brands. (Pssst: This is the same damn coffee.)

I'm a wuss, I drink it with a packet of Stevia and some milk. Not particular with brand, most often, Adli's brand.

I do that too, but stevia and half&half. We plow through a lot of stevia between lightly sweetened iced tea (1TB per gallon) and coffee.

Coffee from a Keurig? You're damn right it's getting cream and sugar.

I started drinking my coffee black when I worked in the field. I didn't want to take the extra time to mix in a bunch of crap. Pour a cup and run to the next thing.

We buy whatever is cheapest at Costco. Before kids I would only buy Larry's Beans.

I drink mine straight black. It was always funny at the coffee place at my college. They would usually do it Starbucks style take your name then call it about 5 minutes later after your drink was ready because they had like 5 to make before yours. If you ordered just a black coffee they went ahead and made it instead of putting your cup inline and half the time they didn't charged me because they were about to rotate the coffee out with fresh stuff. About every 45 minutes they rotated for some reason.
