I took my "new to me" Xterra out for a for a spin late last night. The neighborhoods near the house have not had a plow and the main roads weren't much better. Very fun. Too bad the thing doesn't have working heat!!!

About 3" here in the greater Stanley-Dallas metropolitan area.

Must be a Nissan thing,my wifes Altima has terrible heat.

Apparently one of the two hoses to the heater core sprung a leak a while back, it was cut short and spliced with an elbow, bypassing the heater core. Too cold to work on fixing that crap right now. Once I get it plumbed back together it should be able to bake me out of the truck. The heat in these trucks is usually awesome.

From what I gather the Altimas heater core is higher than the rad cap and if theres any air in the system it gets trapped in the heater core.If your movin its alright but if your still for any amount of time it gets cold, quick.

We're up to maybe 18 or 20 inches? It's really hard to tell b/c the wind is crazy strong and keeps changing directions, so it's piling up in giants drifts in some spots and staying almost bare in others. Even though we have a covered porch w/ the door 4' under the awning, it's piled up enough that I can only open the outer storm door a few inches. Reports are that nobody except heavy trucks can get around, everything is closed up tight. They are only bothering to plow the major roads. my standalone flying-saucer style fire ring is completely covered, it's up past the main ring.
Expected maybe another 6 inches or so.

OK this shit is nuts.
We've easily had 24". Keep in mind it started ~6pm yesterday so thats in just over 24 hours. It's hard to tell how much b/c the wind is so crazy it's pushing it everywhere. I'm jealous of you guys who can be out playing, we are completely shut down, w/ only emergency people on the road and the Nat'l Gaurd taking doctors and EMS around. They have basically given up plowing except for main roads.
Some pics... for reference those are 33s on the white truck. The drift between the cars is at my head height. The ball hanging from the tree is about 16" diameter and hangs at least 18" off of the ground.
Roof of the local Safeway collapsed from the snow weight.

Wow RatLab! That's insane. I'd love to see that much snow at least once. I'm sure I'd be over it after that. Are you still getting more or are you in the clear now?

Still coming down! For a few more hours at least.
It's supposed to be clear and nice tomorrow, perfect for sledding.

Out sledding. We got a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain so it was slick as glass.
