Yagers in your thoughts

My thoughts are with my extended family. Get well soon Mike.

What if we waited and people who wanted to, chip in for something for Yager?

Mike is certainly strong-willed enough to pull through

this is an understatement. any of you who know Mike know he is strong willed, sometimes to the point of making someone else crazy ( ask his brother )

in Talking to Eric, Mike is in there, trying, fighting to come out, he's frustrated with the whole deal and just can't say it yet. if you know him, certain actions and looks tell you right away.

He's in there, and aware he's had some problems, and is fighting to get back.

as for a collection or something of that nature, I'd suggest holding off a bit until we see how he is going to come out of this. No matter the out come, he will need help for awhile ( physical and other wise ), we all know he won't admit it, and he may not ask, but thats the reality for the next few months at least.

Lets wait and find out what he needs so what ever is done can be done the best way possible. We'll know more in a few days. so far what we have been told is very encouraging, pray it gets better from here.
As soon as I can get more info, I will pass it on.

Damn..... God speed to Mike, prayers sent to him and his family.. Glad to hear Mike is fighting back!

x1000

Hell of a good guy, just slightly strong willed at times.

If anyone can get frustrated at this set back, then find a way to get around it and do it his own way, no matter what anyone else has to say about it, its Mike.

Just FYI... I removed a few details at the family's request. They asked not to send anything to the hospital right now. For one thing, they won't allow a lot of stuff into the ICU.

also, they request no visitors at this time, the ICU staff is kinda picky like that.......

someone has already crashed the party and it wasn't received well.

He's probably going to check out his next ambulance purchase while he's there. I'm praying for you Mike. And for your family and for the doctors to be granted the wisdom they need to pull off the healing you are already fighting for.

Mike, You and yours are in my prayers.

Emily and my prayers go out to you Mike, it really is insane with a stroke at that age. Em was 33 and the youngest patient in the stroke rehab by 40+ years!

Just wanted to throw this out there, it is a bigger surprise at the younger age, but you also have a physical advantage / we heal quicker and recover faster.

The "eating applesauce" is HUGE btw, that means his swallowing function is working and that is a key first step. Just the first of many I am sure!

I taked with Erik, Mike's twin brother (If you have never gone drinking with identical twins, I absolutely recommend it.)

If you would like to do something, but you do not know what to do, please send a CARD to Mike's house.

If you have a picture you would like to include, I bet he would appreciate it. Hospital walls get pretty darn boring to stare at after awhile. I would recommend writing a short description on the back, so people that are showing him the picture and may not know about the people or things can give him some context.

His family and friends have a lot to deal with, so boxes, flowers, food, whatever else, will probably just get in the way.

But sending a card with a couple pictures might do everyone some good.

Thanks for posting the updates, still keeping the prayers going.

X2, sending pics is a great way to liven up a hospital room. We did this for a girl on another forum. She had dogs, so everybody sent in dog pictures...she said that was the most meaningful and memorable thing to come of her extended hospital stay. I'll get something in the mail asap.

talked to Eric today, Mike was sitting up in a chair for several hours and was able to stand and walk a bit, he's making progress.

the physical therapy folks are quizzing and challenging him to see what and where to start rehab, he's giving them a run on several things, which is good, and they are keeping him busy and moving to help the recovery.

It is requested at this time that all cards and gifts be sent to the house as Mike may be moving to a different hospital soon,

also requested no visitors at this time, possibly this weekend, again, because he may be moving

There is a lot going on for both Mike and family, and too many folks will cause undue stress on everyone involved.

please send all cards or gifts
