Trends that I just don't get....

I'm with Braxton. This has been called the "Cali Lean" since i ever was old enough to notice.... It isn't anything new, but im sure all these damn rednecks think they are really onto something that has never been done.

I've not seen this trend in the NORTHeastern part of NC.

Mine sits like that just cause its waiting for the $ for 6" springs to level it out (I dont drive it on the road squatted)
Got in front of a 08+ F350 squatted because of trailer this morning. Learn to adjust headlights!!

I think it looks ridiculous. I see it a lot around the beach. I heard it called the "west coast lean" pretty stupid but to each his own I guess.

Another trend I hate, and I know I'm going to catch a bunch of hate for this so let the flaming begin... STACKS!!!
It's so stupid to me! A beautiful truck, nice wheels, some lift, some nice accessories, then someone goes and runs some big ol redneck trashy stacks or just one big one out of the bed. Kills it for me.
Stacks are ok on an old school dually maybe but I not quite my thing. I am ok with a hood stack tho! A hood stack screams "I mean business at the track"
A stack or dual stacks out the bed screams "I'm white trash look at me"

No offense to anyone at all, I love all custom rides. That's just my opinion when I see it. That's my rant.

I actually hate stacks too....that being said, I have them on my old K30. Everybody else may like them, but until you've owned them...you don't know how much they suck! They blow soot everywhere (can't start my truck with the door open or window down, cant sit on the tool box or tail gate, etc) , they're loud, and stuff in the bed of the truck will melt to them in a heart beat! The reason I have them is there simply wasn't room under the truck for a 4" exhaust pipe as it was never meant to have a Cummins in it :D Sooner than later, I'll be running the exhaust down the left side of the truck and doing away with the stacks.

I HATE Nitto Mud Grapplers. I think they suck as much as Thornbirds, except they're louder. WAY louder.

I'll have to agree on the stacks, but disagree on the Mud Grapplers. If you run them expecting them to be a bogger, of course you will be disappointed, but they suited me well, they did great on the sand, good out around here on the farm and mild trails, deep water crossings, and a little mud, besides that they were smooth as glass up to 80mph, they were on a weekend driver, not a daily or trail rig. They were also the cheapest 38" tire available at the time I was looking by a longshot, which is why I took a chance on them even after all of the negatives I had "heard", after that I would buy them again. As far as the noise, yes they were loud, but the truck was also fully sound deadened so they were barely audible with the windows rolled up, besides that they were much less annoying than the X-Terrains I had before, they weren't as loud, but the pitch was more high pitched.

yeah hate them wanna be "big truck guys" who slap stacks in their junk and think they are badass!! haha just dump it, and the gasburners make even less sense If it has stacks it, better have @ least 10 wheels on it!!!! kinda glad is sucks for the guys who have them (that makes me laugh a little) looking that stupid and still having their coolers full of wine coolers melted to their stacks hahaha!! probly ruined their trip to the Justin Bieber concert

Since we are on the topic....

Diesel ownership morphing into the new "ricer" type. Just like with sport compacts, the original few started out with meaningful builds and modifications.... fast forward a few years and it's a washed out fad with everyone slapping on every cheesy modification they can to be the next big thing.

and the wide towing mirrors?? kids around here get the mirrors folded out as far as they can get them and are just riding around, (i get it towing a 40' gooseneck of roundbales) but just cruisin, I guess its so they can check out their flatbills in the mirror:confused:

It's been coined on competitiondiesel.com as "Coal Oralers" (kinda like how 'pwn' got started)

- tow mirrors out all the time
- cali lean
- big stickers
- way too big stacks/tips
- 20"+ wheels (when they are not tastefully chosen)

These are all Oraler qualifications

I'll start a new fad. I'll just ride around in a tricked out Peterbuilt for a daily driver :D

And for no apparent reason!

Oh...also,

Were the Xterrains really that bad? I had one of the last sets of 40x13.50-17s NTW had. I absolutely loved them! Then again, I only got to put about 15k miles on them before someone decided to shank one of them. I guess they could get loud once they wear down or get chopped at all, but mine were very quiet...probably the quietest tire I ever had on the old M1008. I know the 11.00R-16s are loud, but they have some really big, blocky, tread too and they wear horribly. I have to rotate them twice to changing the oil once.

I had a set of 33" XTerrains, really liked them, didn't feel like they were that loud at all given the aggressiveness of them.

The coffee can mufflers on all the ricers. Nothing like a 200k plus mile stock 4 cylinder blowing smoke and sounding like :poop:.

Years back when my dd was a 79 yota on 33s, I actually made a muffler tip that was a Maxwell House metal coffee can as a joke. I rolled with it for probably 6 months.

They were considerably worse than my mud grapplers, volume was not so much the problem as the frequency. The high pitched whine of the X-terrains gave me headaches, whereas the low pitch roar of the mud grapplers was very tolerable. I should note though that this was on two different trucks, although both 2500HDs.

Maybe I didn't notice the whine of the tires over the whine of the 4 angry squirrels powering the 22re...

Yea, see that was the opposite with my X-Terrains. I figured on a straight piped diesel, what would it matter, no way I would hear it over my exhaust, but it became deafening on my 2-3hr commute to Raleigh, swapped the X-Terrains out after about 10k mi to some ATs, much better.

I've always called it and heard it called a Cali lift. They are all over socal, prerunner wannabes.

This. They call up Camburg or whoever and drop $5k on control arms and coil overs and fiberglass for the front end, but then have to "save up" before they can afford to skin the bed, truss it, etc. So they ride around with the front looking like Robby Gordon and the back looking like Robby Bobby.

Hmm, maybe he can patent and distribute the faux-hawk roll bar??

I saw a Cali-rake truck a few weeks ago while heading to URE. It was insanely retarded.

And, I keep my tow mirrors extended all the time. Maybe that will make me 25 years old again.

Funny thing is, most of the guys you see with the retardedly over sized mirrors can't drive with mirrors anyway. For example, my girlfriend could care less if her car has mirrors on it or not, never looks at them

I also had 2 sets of Xterrains (33's and 35's) and loved them both. Seemed to work well in everything, and were pretty quiet and had good manners on the street.

I hate HUGE stacks and he new diesel rice bs.....I bought my powerstroke for 3k almost 4 years ago and bought it to work. Yes I have stacks on it...6" grand rocks, sometimes they do suck but they keep soot and hot ass exhaust away from materials and plant that I'm hauling to jobsites. I hav also built some towing mirrors for the truck FOR TOWING and they are awesome except for when I am in tight spaces wwhere I wish they would flip down. Another thing I can't stand is the "SHOW" trucks that have rims wider than their tires....looks like hell
