84 Toyota "Old Red"

does a 85 have solid axles or cv type
* mine is an 84.. first year of full axle truss under front axle.
im not sure on your year but i think ruf moves the axle forward . you might not have to trim.someone on here probly knows
the RUF should move the axle forward 1.5" and I may move the front hanger another .5" forward depending on front shackle angle. I plan to trim about 2" out of the front fenders, the black paint on the driver side is a pretty good representation of the amount that will be cut off.

Don't know how u feel about em, but my 84 xcab runs RUFs with chevy rears, and a 2" BL. Clears 36 IROKS with no scrub. Back fender needed a little massaging from previous dent, but front was fine

"dont know how I feel about'em", as in body lift? I'm not a fan thats for sure. did you have a BL and the fenders trimmed or BL only and no rubbing?

2.5" backspacing wheels? wheel spacers?

Hey, those parts look lonely sitting there all alone. Hey man let me know how that MC HD clutch works out. Cant wait to see the finished product.

nope no money for that unfortunately. New timing chain, sprockets and guides,New clutch, Replace gaskets, New headers and exhaust. I think I'll be able to get the carb to work pretty good after some mods to it: lower float level, vent overflow out of carb, lower fuel pressure with regulator.

Not that I am stalking your thread, but I saw you were talking about brake plate eliminators, if you haven't purchased them already you can make them real cheap. Just cut em out and grind smooth.

I cut mine out of the factory backing plates also but not the small circle like pictured. I cut almost all the way around and left the small section where the brake line support is on top. I just like using the factory brake line support tab. I figured it couldn't hurt.

Great idea, I'm going to do this.

only a month late

2" BL, 15x10 3.75" BS, 1.5" WS, and no trimming other than to move bent sheetmetal. Inside fenderwell was beat back pretty good but that was from before the RUFs.

If you are going to buy chromo shafts, consider building a wider housing so you don't have to use wheel spacers.

That’s amazing. Don’t think I’ll be going that far with this axle. This build is intended to be a point and shoot adventure vehicle that is still able to be daily driven. The most difficult thing it will see is some uwharrie trails and similar. Just a fun hobby truck.

Progress. Brackets cut and grinded smooth. Wire wheeled and painted. Have to media blast all the other axle parts and reassemble.
