I am considering this my last build. (Famous last words right) I had my YJ for for right at 20 years before I sold it. I figure if this one can last that long, I will probably be more worried about an off road walker for the yard when that time arrives.
Not really sure you would classify it as a build, maybe adding mods? Anyway..

Bumper install. I liked it at first, but I will probably end of changing this. It is a heavy bitch and I think it will hit a lot of stuff off road. I do like how the winch tucks in though.

Friggin quitter :flipoff2:

Never say never

Edited thread, made me feel a little bad...damnit. I am no quitter..:flipoff2: And beside, I do have the AMX and Chief to complete. Hope I live long enough .lol

Steve @89wrangler have you thought about adding a better evap skid. I run the one offered from rockhard and a AEV rear differential skid. Helps protect the zeppa joint and makes going over rocks with your rear diff. But it looks like a killer build so far

Yup, there will be an evap skid added to the list. I will also look into the diff skid. Thanks @josh$$

Got the Aluminum GenRight fenders installed this past weekend. Did anyone else notice it was hot out?? Gonna start taking the front axle out next, then truss, ball joints, steering, gears.

It is a 5 speed auto. Currently has 33's and 3:73's, I am thinking 4.88 should be good with the 37's ( which are actually closer to 36") and that was the consensus on NC 4x4, so it has to be correct :driver:. Plus there are two sets of them in the shop, so that is what getting installed this weekend:beer:. I will report back how they work.

Axle is out, let the work/fun begin.

pull shafts and removing the knuckles for new ball joints

On the stand. they really ought to put larger tubes on these. you can see why they bend.

Going to cut off track bar bracket and clean up axle and start to burn on the parts next once I pick up some wire today. Went to fire up welder last and ran our of wire on first pull of the trigger. Also note to self, where long pants while using the grinder. Damn leg still is not healed from last time!

Dumb question for ya were you going to put lower c-gussetson it as well?. But so far it looks like it is coming together smoothly

Yes, but they would not stay on while I tried to take the pic...lol

When removing the front pinion, make sure you remove the position switch/threaded plunger from the housing. Otherwise, you'll be ordering one that isn't bent.
Rear is no issue, plenty of room to work around it.
Thank you for that tid bit of valuable information! It was on my list of things to look up as to what the heck it was and what it did. And they keep saying you don't know gearing...phff'd to the nay sayers..lol

Looking great Steve, if ya need a hand holler at me, I'm right down the road. I have a soft spot for Jk,s!

If you want to sale the factory front track bar, or drag link, axleshafts, I am your man.

They will all be for sale. I will give you a holler when I get done. Thanks

Awesome build, looking to fits my 08 JKU with a lot of parts from your list. Have you tried the rock sliders in action? I am looking for something similar to your Barnes sliders, but don't want to buy the fancy looking steps that wouldn't hold up as good.

I have not used the sliders yet, in the middle of front end build and re-gear, but I can guarantee they will hold up to any abused you can throw at them. These things are beefy and rock solid.

Made some progress between interruptions...
Got all of the truss pieces welded on, the lower control arm mounts skids welded on and the 4.88's installed in the diff. Next will be the ball joints and steering components.

gear pattern ( has the "Jody Stamp of Approval")

Love how the build is going! I know the welding wire situation all too well. I tacked my cage together and pulled it. Went to lay the first bead and nothing haha.
Side note.. my friend loves the 33’s we picked up from you.
