One Ton 2nd gen Tacoma Build

F250 shock towers and be done. You just gonna try standard cross over steering first?

Yes, that’s the plan. I may need to notch the frame up and get a flat pitman arm. We will see.

So I’m looking into full hydro. I have all the parts to do it, so why not.
Only concern is the stock pump. Searched for hours. No data on its output.
No aftermarket pumps that I can find.
Probably going to have to use it as is or fab up a TG pump bracket.

Made a little progress today. Got the axle cleaned up That I’m planning to use. Was modified to run in a 99-04 super duty so I have to weld on a new perch.
Ordered some parts from @Barnes 4wd
offset TRE to clear the cover
Misc tabs
Shock hoops
Orbital mount
Leaf perch

Ordered some gears for the front too.

@Chris_Keziah is gonna help me install them when they get here.

Welds by @hurt4x4

You’ll need two small bends to clear the diff cover if you aren’t moving the tie rod location from the original knuckle location. My 05 with a recessed cover from ruffstuff and Barnes offset heims still hit at full lock.

It cleared at lock to the driver side, but not to passenger with standard TRE’s
We’ll see how the offsets do.

I'm still waiting to see the purple YJ build :flipoff2:
I’m waiting on this guy to finish his taco so we can work on getting the puzzle figured out

Decided I’m going to do a steering box. Figured out full hydro is a pain on these cause the airbag clocking spring will break if you over rotate the steering wheel.

Not 100% sure if it’s far enough forward, but it will have to work. It’s as far forward as I can get it. I can always slide the axle back an inch on the spring perches.

I’m thinking flat pitman arm. Possibly mount drag link above pitman arm cut up into frame to clear.

truck looks good man! I kick myself for selling it from time to time. I would definitely plate the frame up front. Rock solid toys sells plates for them, I've seen a few frames twist already without them on these specifically.

@71chevytruckguy came over to help me get a plan for steering. I have a plan. Ordered some parts. We’ll see.

Also, @Chris_Keziah got my gears installed on my Detroit in my 60. Now I need to weld the tubes and install new axle seals.

Trying to figure out how to mount the shackle for my anti wrap bar. I like to mount them where the bar is on top and hard mount is on bottom. I’ll figure something up, but this is what I’m working with.

Spring perch burned in.

Pitman arm finally showed up. Should be the last piece I needed for the steering. Hopefully I’ll have it all mocked up by this weekend.

Who makes that. It’s saaaawwwweeeeeettttttt
It’s from sky. It’s beefy and I like how it’s machined so I don’t have to cut up into the frame as much for the nut.
Picture showed it flat all the way.

So I needed to flip the pitman arm to get the drag link on top the arm for more clearance.
the drag link at full lock to drivers side would give me 2 inches of up travel even if I notched the frame for the arm. Decided to notch the frame for the drag link end and mount the arm below the frame.

Sky didn’t sell one so @hurt4x4 did a killer job cutting and flipping it. Looks like new

Made some progress. Box is mounted. Had to pull the radiator to get room to weld.

Frame plates are made. Ran out of gas halfway through welding on the inner.
