Random Thoughts.....

New contact day is the best day
For some reason when I first read this, I thought it had to do with medical patients.

I look forward to the 1st and the 16th for the same reason.

Geez...I'm the king of turning a 3 month supply in to a 3 year supply. I generally let nature run its course, when one naturally pops out, I let my eye breathe a couple days and then pop another one in. Repeat process until I'm down to my emergency 'expired' contact stash. Then schedule an appointment.

When I was wearing dailys I'd have them in for a few weeks lol. Still, they weren't that great for me even on day 1

I use monthly...usually never take them out though. About the time I can feel them scraping my eye lid to the point of irritating me, they pop out while I'm sleeping or rub my eye a little too hard. Then I'll walk around for a week with only one contact in, to let my eye breathe, ya know...to make up for not taking them out regularly. For me though, I think it's more a matter of every single time I go to the eye doctor they want to take a better look at the black spot on my eye. I go to a whole bunch of specialists, they argue for months over whether they think it's benign or malignant. Then I tell them to just cut the damn thing out, give me an eye patch and I'll become a pirate. The doctors stop arguing and tell me just to be sure to come back so it can be monitored every 3 months. That's been going on for about 15 years now, I'm still not dead and the spot hasn't changed, but I am down to my last 6 contacts...soooooo, it's about time to do it all again.

fuck you guys.
My contacts are hundreds of dollars each and only get replaced every few years. :flipoff2:

Hard Contacts?

Ouch. I had them for years, finally made the switch to soft lens and never looked back. My eyesights not as good with them, but the comfort is totally worth it.
Yep. RGPs. Basically a fancy acrylic.
There is no soft lens option in my perscription.

Something unique or are you just that blind? I literally can't make out the top letter on the eye chart. Puts me at a -6.25 for my contact prescription. Last time I actually went in, they said if my vision got much worse, I'd be looking at hard lenses, whether contacts or glasses.

A little bit of everything. Extremely myopic. Like my glasses perscription is something like -13 or something. I couldn't tell you where the chart is. Maybe that giant white blur over there? Reading distance is something like 3 inches. In high school I got a glasses update and the edges of the lenses were so beveled the earpieces literally could not fold down all the way. Had to switch to high index refraction lenses. I've worn contacts since middle school, when RGPs first became a possible thing.
On top of that I have pretty bad astigmatism. So lenses have to be weighted to fit correctly.
On top of that, ocular albinism, that causes macular imperfections that could never be fixed w/ lenses due to blocakge of the fovea.
On top of that, a mild involuntary nystagmus that makes most surgeries difficult.

But hey, I'm lucky. Most ocular alibinos can't drive at all and barely read, so I'm happy w/ what I got.

I get a 3 moth supply of daily’s and they last me a lot longer. Sometimes I’ll pull em out and let them soak over night, sometimes they stay in until they just come out at random but I usually let my eyes rest and just wear glasses for a day or so after that. The only reason I tried daily’s was because I do too much dumb stuff and it don’t hurt as much to go through a set or 2 a day.

i get monthly contacts. and take them out most nights and remember to change them when they start bothering my eyes. usually 2-3 months. i loose alot during the summer, swimming waterskiing and what not. apparently your not suppose to open your eyes under water with contacts in but i do and about 95% of the time they stay in.

I do carry a 2nd set on the boat for that reason.

I don't know how long my contacts are supposed to last. I got a year supply (couple boxes) freshman year of college and just got new ones last year. Lasted me 10 yrs. They expired in 2011 ha. I take them out every night. I only change them when one tears or get so gunky I with protein I can't get it clean. I always swap in a new pair the opening day of hunting season though.

i asked to move my eye appointments around so they are in august so i can have the sharpest vison possible for hunting season.

I change my 2-weekers every 15ish days. And take em out at night. I have enough issues as it is, no need to make it worse. If I were to save that $20/month, I'd just find something else to spend it on anyway.

As for the rest of yall, well yall are all gonna die of something.

For me, it's not the money, it's the fact that I never think to change them.

Dave,
I'm sorry but I have to.
Love ya. Mean it.

So you are normal then?

I was fully expecting a tree comment to come up.

43 years old and I pick up my first ever pair of glasses next week. Need to wear them all the time. Probably needed them a year or so ago but just kept putting it off. Figure I’ll try contacts later down the line.

I wore glasses for about 2-3 years in middle school and then got contacts an never looked back. I HATE glasses. The magnification is not as consistent, they fog up, they fall off, and the peripheral vision sucks. Contacts can be annoying, but glasses are terrible for my lifestyle.
