The proud parent thread.

So final round of interviews for kindergarten, mingling with proposed classmates…easy, right? Apparently, she found some temporary tattoos in the car on the way…licked them and you can see some faint remnants of tattoo and thumb scrub marks on the forehead and cheek. When asked why she did it…‘I wanted to show I was the coolest and toughest kid in class’. Application approval status is unknown at this time…haha.

Interview for kindergarten? This coming from someone who was publicly educated and has no kids, so I don’t get it.

Summary…I’ve gone from broke, public education kid, to yuppie that sends their kid to private school…at least until middle school.

Props to you for doing what your doing for your kids. Like I said, I never had kids so I’m out of touch with kindergarten requirements. LOL!

Not all kindergartens are this way…this one in particular has a 2yr waitlist and the kid has to attend their pre-k class. So technically she’s not even in pre-k yet and this was the orientation for pre-k and can still get booted from the program.

No kidding! Me and my brother are 3.5 years apart. We fought dern near to death daily. It was like that until we both had kids.

At least you know what you're getting into. I had no idea!

Yeeaaa, there were a few trips to the hospital to share a room after beating each other to a bloody pulp.

I've never posted in this thread before. My son was a very difficult toddler (2-5 yrs old), who later grew to become a very well mannered little boy. He was an OK student, but getting him to do homework was always a dreadful experience. Something in his brain changed over this past summer. He started fifth grade this fall, and does all of his homework without us even telling him anymore. He worries about doing well on tests, and studies hard asking us to quiz him regularly. He will randomly study subjects over the weekend when he knows he has a quiz/test coming up the next week. He made honor roll the first quarter of this school year. I am very proud of him.

Our middle child was much the same. By 4th grade we were certain we'd have a worthless sponge living at home till 30

She really turned it around in 5th grade. No idea what happened but damn did she get a bug up her ass to be the best at everything she did. She graduated in the top 10% from UNCW business school this past may and is an investment broker. so stinking proud of that turd

how about a half page ELI5 version

I'm just proud all the way around.
Last night I was sitting on the couch and I watched her walk from the kitchen to the table and sit down to eat and I just smiled. She looked so big (She's 3) The way she carried herself and was so independent. just warmed my heart.
We sort of had a free day on Monday, so I took her to the Science Center in Greensboro and its amazing how much they know at such a young age.

Love being a Dad.

My boy got his results for beginning of the year reading test ( third grade) back a few weeks ago. They had 3 hr allotted for them to finish, he took 20 minutes and ended up with level 5 (top 98% 9th grade level) score. He's an inside kid and likes to do his own thing, I did manage to get him to come help me change the oil in my truck last night though. 😆
