The Work Travel Thread

@jeepinmatt That's Vesuvius. We flew right over Pompeii. It's smoking...but not from being active. There are a few small wildfires burning on the sides of it. I had to Google it.

@CasterTroy Nope. Those are F35s that I was working on. We don't/haven't worked on the F22s at Cherry Point. The boat was the USS Makin Island. It's an LHD8, so no launch or catch cable. Anything on deck has to be vertical takeoff capable. V22s, H60s, and F35s. The CH53s were on another boat in the MEU, but are on board from time to time.

 Saw the 22's on the side....and HOPED it was just call letters. Thats friggin awesome

Heading to Windsor CT Monday for the week. Big Amazon facility that we are building. Having to drive up, which means plenty of radio time.

Better take a good pair of walking shoes if it’s anything like the Amazon facilities I’ve been in.
Oh yea. They're massive. We've done several of them, including one on Long Island NY.

About 8-9 years ago I was over the low volt and access control for 4 of them being built in the south east. 3 of them were right at a million sqft and the 4th up around Richmond Va was 1.4 million sqft. Needless to say I got my steps in while on site.

Well, I've been gone 3 months this year so far. I was in Beaufort, SC in February and then went out on the boat, and I've been back in Beaufort now for a week. I'll be here until the middle or end of May.

Totally handing in a FAT leave slip when I get back. Probably at least two weeks. I've got 150 hours of use or lose already for this year.

Only plus side, I get to tear apart a crash damage bird and watch the Blue Angels fly. Could always be worse, right?

@Croatan_Kid Go find Gay Fish company and get some good fresh seafood.... Assuming you have a way to cook....

No way to cook, unfortunately.

Went to Dockside on Sunday, got the crab stuffed flounder.

Already been to Alvin Ords twice :D

Fat Patties is on the list.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've been down here. Not my favorite place, but there's good food!

So I was in Bend Or . Had a work stop in Moab on the way back about to grab a beer .

So far this year I've been to Beaufort, SC 8 times, Bahrain, out on a Navy ship, London, Spain, Italy, and had to come back early from my trip to Beaufort last week to fly out the next day to Yuma, AZ. I'm ready for some time off. I'll get back home on the 22nd, finally.

So, last year I went on 11 trips. Beaufort, SC 8 times. Bahrain/Persian Gulf/Oman/Navy ship. Kinston, NC. Yuma, AZ. I added up all my over time and it was something like 505 hours. I broke 100k.

I thought I'd be home for a little bit, but it's looking like I might be headed to Seoul, South Korea for 3 months. Do I necessarily want to? No. However, it's enough money that it's really difficult to say "no" to. 143 a day per diem for food. Overtime as far as the eye can see. I just got my final pay step in the pay grade that I'm in and I get 7.5% differential because I'm technically on second shift. Needless to say, my hourly rate ain't bad. I stand to come home with something like 45,000 bucks....

That can buy a LOT of truck parts. I just gotta find somebody to watch my dogs.

Damn dude! Going over yonner to Ko-rea wouldn't be exactly top on my list either, but hell.....if the juice is worth the squeeze, and it sure sounds like it.. Have a rice ball for me! lol

In Boston today freezing -7 this morning and it says it won't get above 0 today

so far this year I have been to : Boston, New Orleans, Chicago, and Texas each about 5 times.. and I have a list of more cities to hit coming. Kansas will probably be the worst as I have 5 cities to hit there soon.

Monday I take off for The UK. Hit up London, Windsor, Poole and a quick trip over to Prague to visit LEGOs model production facility.

Poole is where our Corporate HQ is, and I haven’t been there yet, but I’m super pumped about hitting up Prague, CZ.
Prague is a hell of a good time.

Made it to Windsor and Poole England. So far just work… if you can call it that.
