Chasing a dream

Now I'm curious what your day to day looks like.
I been thinking about making a video about what it's like for a week in our lives or something since we aren't always doing extravagant things, but I guess we don't live a "normal" life to most so I suppose folks do probably wonder. It's probably pretty boring though lol.

To that note, I welcome feedback on the channel. I love the challenge of constantly improving. Much like the stories I've written here, I'm now trying to focus on catching that on video.

Where is your apron?
You know it's been a year, I feel I've really earned my keep and I'm hoping I get one this Christmas 🤞

Hints to the wife on FB would be appreciated

Told you this already but hoping to spark some convo in here. I think all these ppl will give you the genuine feedback you're looking for.

For me, the first 6ish months of videos were tough to watch (I'd imagine others would concur). You just hadn't found your stride yet. We all know you're a great storyteller from the wheeling stories you'd post up on here a few years ago when all the Misfitz were wheeling a good bit together. I think the forum (i.e., this crowd) really enjoyed (and really miss) those. To that end, I think the most recent videos have been a (insert Trump voice) HUGE improvement and you're starting to "figure it out". The RMR video was really the one where I could see leaps and bounds improvements from some of the earlier videos. I'm excited for the future for you and the channel.

Looking forward for that Harlan video to drop in the coming weeks. Keep it up, dude-man.

I think you absolutely nailed it! I'll be 100% honest, I haven't been able to get through the videos, they were painful because they didn't capture how well you can tell a story. I think everyone should get to experience the enthusiasm & humor you inject into stories!

I have an idea too! 💡

Go watch the RMR one and see if you think it's any better (and even the most recent series where he's documenting the breakdown). They're MUCH better.

It does not hurt my feelings one bit that folks haven't, or can't watch the early videos. I can't even watch them myself, they're so cringe.
If that has been your feelings, I would say go check out the latest 4-5 videos. It has been like learning to walk and the biggest thing I've learned is to record like I edit. The recording and the editing flow together for constant improvement.

I have to force myself to take a moment and creatively capture and explain what's going on, and that has been a tremendous help in editing, the flow of a story, community, engagement and audience retention.

Looks like I've got some catching up to do at lunch today! 🤗

I watched the RMR video. I thought it looked awesome with the cuts, and music, and such. You are doing great. I prefer watching shorter videos, but I get that you cant really get that kind of footage in a short video, and show what people want to see.

There’s a guy who does racing/motorcycle geared podcasts called Gypsy Tales, and he does 3hr full interviews with people, but also posts 3-5 minute excerpts of the more interesting parts. He has found great success with this method and it has actually sucked me in to listening to a couple of the full interviews because of the snippets.

Is that not what the Shorts are supposed to be on YT?
I hate those shorts BTW. Wish I could turn them off

No, I think Shorts are less than a minute. These are a few minutes of actual developed content, that suck you in and tell the whole story of that part of the interview.

I'm the opposite, I prefer the longer videos. Can't make everyone happy though lol.

The video quality has definitely gotten better, and I see the FB posts and stuff about getting new cameras/mics/etc so it's apparent that @77GreenMachine wants to improve his content. Keep up the good work!

That's how Dale Earnhardt Jr does his podcasts, more often than not I end up just watching the whole thing.

I don't know where to be on the video length. I get a lot of folks saying they wish the wheeling vids were longer, some say under 20 minutes. So on the last few my focus has been under 30 minutes, but hopefully moving along and being funny enough that people are enjoying it so much they hang around.

The Harlan video that drops this Tuesday is going to pack a punch. I was well into the video editing and then started over and changed how I usually layout a video to try something new 🤞

Starring some of our own, wild shenanigans from the likes of @rcalexander105, @Hoodw!nk, @Kickdeez and the long lost @GotWood this is bound to be a good watch.
