Well my son has been very busy. He is still in high school yet he has a legit lawn care business and needs/wants to grow it even more.

So he has decided to build his own custom Cab and Chassis lawn care truck.

He spent many months trying to find the perfect option and could not so he found that uhaul sells Cab and Chassis and he has decide it will be perfect for him.

So here we go.

That's pretty impressive. So are these old trucks they remove the box from?

Yes the retire them after a certain age or mileage

They than take the boxes and make them storage units

You should keep your eyes out for an old tobacco dryer in the brambles of a farm they’d probably be happy to have it hauled off and it quiet literally designed to dry stuff.
Nope they want money for any junk now days.

Just curious, if you are starting from scratch and have the option, why not go enclosed?
I asked him the same question he wants open

closed doesn't get rained on, the sun doesn't eat plastics and seats, gas cans don't walk off, nothing gets wet during the 5pm rains in June, and no need for additonal locks, keys, and remembering to lock it all up after every yard and at night, day after day

just my 2c from running an open yard care trailer for years

Did you tell him somebody will steal his shit while he's stopped for gas?
He locks everything up with cable locks etc.

We had this conversation, but he made up his mind so I am letting him do his thing

With school and all his jobs progress has been slow. But we hope to make some progress over the holidays

Yesterday we ran and picked up a bunch of steel and today while I was cooking he started.

Cut part of double stack frame uhaul uses so they can have a flat floor in truck box off so he can start making bracing for his tool boxes

More

We found the cat had a cage on it, which we will put back later :)

He fired up the cnc machine to make plates to bolt to frame.

And started framing support pieces

Just please tell me the boy is wearing a proper respirator if he is even close to welding on the galv. metal!!??

Just chug some milk, hell be fine!

Seriously, do it right. Good ventilation or a respirator. Puking your guts up sucks.

no welding on galvanized. he made plates and will be drilling holes into frame so plates bolt to frame and he than welds new steel to plates.
