Diesel prices, $4/gal yet anywhere in NC? Now $5

Here in durham, nc the price posted as of 6am was $4.49 a gallon. Word has it that 87 octane will be $4.22 average and diesel is said to be $5.15 a gallon on US average by July 1st 2008. A friend in the oil business warned me this past weekend. :(

Better hope the gov't steps in by then. Those kind of numbers will produce riots or who knows what kind of violence.

I really dont agree with that. I think people will still pay it and continue to drive around and travel and go shopping etc. Everyday i am on the highways and the traffic has not dwindled a single bit. just more little cars and less SUV's. I think it will take a USA wide 2 or 3 day strike of just ALL people living in the US to take from a fri night to mon morning and veg and do NOTHING except sit around the house. That would get their attention and the GOV and oil companys would loose SOOO much $$$ i bet mon morning the gas would be down to $2 a gallon. Dont you agree???

I think it's already putting a dent on people eating out, plus grocery prices are shooting up fast now. Won't be long before a lot of independent truckers give up or pass the prices back to us heavily. I'm not inflation proof like some people, it's made me cut back on my driving and consolidate trips.

Bush is asleep at the wheel in my opinion now. I know he's a lame duck but this is nuts at the rate it's shot up. I'm fine with sitting on the beach and looking at an oil well, better fishing around it to I bet!

We raised our labor rate from $75 to $80 an hour to compensate for fuel surcharges and our own consumption expense going up. So yeah, stuff is going to get more expensive for sure.

transit along the railroads is increasing. Long haul truck fleets are shipping more and more trailers by rail.

diesel up to 4.39 on sandy ridge rd, GSO :(

Uh no and it shows that you have zero grasp of supply and demand. The ONLY and I repeat ONLY way prices will lower is when more refineries are built and more crude is drilled/pump. All other methods to supposedly "fix" this situation are emotional, political responses designed to hide the true solution as it will offend the eco-nazis.

4.49 here in kernersville.

The one way we as the people can affect the prices would be to boycot the two major supply companies, exxon and mobile... If no one bought their gas, they would be forced to lower the price thus the smaller companies would as well to stay competative. Supply and demand is worthless when it comes to oil in America, but I bet if one million+ American's refused to buy gas from these two suppliers they're loss would be huge, so they would be forced to drop the prices at the pump. Just my .02...

I didn't realize exxon/mobile determined the import prices from overseas......

cocksuckers!

The problem with this terminoligy is that exxon / mobile owns most of the refinery's. Therefore any no name gas station you buy from could possibly be buying from exxon / mobile.

By the way $4.50 a gallon today. I am hoping my job isn't the next to go with these prices.

We just picked up a commuter car for me so that the CTD will be parked on most days. If you really want to fight back, do everything you can to buy less. Walk, bike, smaller car, etc.

that is becuse it has not gotten bad enough yet. Just wait untill we are at the same price as Europe 6,7,8 per gallon an then see what will happen

I am doing everthing I can you cut my fuel cost. from driving my CTD on grease which put me at about 44 MPG to and from work to working on some other alternative fuelling options. I even started to ride share with someone from my work. currently I have my fuel cost below $100 per month that is 1200 miles comute to work and week end stuf not including big trips

Still holding steady at 4.39 where I work. You local guys need to come fill up. We have right at 4K gallons left and it's going to jump a lot when we have to get a load. Cost to the station is currently like 4.41 if we were to buy it today.

on saturday's i make a run from lexington, nc --> richmond, va --> garner, nc then back to lexington. the average gas prices i saw yesterday were $3.75reg and up to $4.60 for diesel. i'm just glad that work pays the gas for that trip...:shaking:
